Dieppe, NB – Harry James Matthews, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 15th, 2022 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton

Born in St. Thomas, Ontario, he was the son of the late Everett and the late Annie Matthews.

Harry will be greatly missed by his surviving spouse of 37 years: Cecile Muriel Matthews (Thomas). His daughter: Brenda. His three sons: Daniel, David, and Stephen all of Ontario. He is survived by his two siblings: Dorothy and Lloyd; 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers: Russell, Clarence, and Ralph.

As per Harry’s wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service.

  1. Uncle Harry, you will be dearly missed. We were very fortunate to have you in our life and we will forever cherish all our great family memories. Our sincere condolences to aunt Cecile, his surviving sister Dorothy, children, grand-children and many friends.

  3. May you Rest In Peace Grandpa, I will miss our phone call chats and making you laugh. I have some good memories to look back on and will always think of you fondly. Im so glad you got to see your first great great grandson Finn (at least in pictures). I’m so thankful for Cecile also, I know she took wonderful care of you. XOXO

  4. Sorry for your loss, Harry was a great brother-in-law and a good Uncle he will be greatly Missed by all of us here. We remember the good times when we came to Ottawa visiting.
