Born in North Sydney, NS, he was the son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Angel) McLaughlin. He was predeceased by Clarisse (Poirier), his wife of nearly 70 years, his sister Barbara Rankine, and infant brother, Aubrey.

Huntley was the much loved father to Aubrey/Bob (Mary) of Peterborough, ON, Elaine (Michael Burrock) of Pine Island, FLA, Myrna/Trent of Vancouver, BC, Paul (Pat) and Marc (Suzanne) both of Riverview, NB, and Allan (Carol) of Ste. Anne-du-Kent, NB. Huntley was adored by his grandchildren Craig (Cheryl), Karen Holmes (Cory), Colin Bell (Jamie), Robyn Valenti (Paul), Ben Burrock (Apom), Jonah (Michelle), Luke (Marylee), Jessica Parker (Bob), Natasha, Theresa, Ashley (David), Shane (Veronique), Lauren Caravan (Nick), and also by his great-grandchildren Carly, Tori & Jack Mclaughlin, Campbell & Holly Holmes, Michael & Jacob Mann, Declan & Imogen Bell, Elaina, Erika & Eliza Burrock, River McLaughlin, Clara & Lochlann Parker, Samara, Autumn, Hope, Starr (Theresa) and Nolan Sisson. He is survived by his brother-in-law Gerard (Flora) Poirier of Moncton, by his sisters-in-law, Imelda and Dorice (Poirier) of Dieppe and brother-in-law Herve Gagnon of Moncton and his many nieces and nephews.

Huntley never forgot his Maritime roots, having grown up in Hazel Hill, NS before enlisting in the RCAF in 1942 and serving until 1945. In 1946 while living in the Moncton Area he reenlisted in the permanent force. His Air Force career took him and his family from Greenwood, NS to Trenton, ON to Summerside, PEI to Comox, BC and finally to retirement in Moncton, NB. In retirement, he and Clarisse enjoyed travelling & spent 18 winters in their Fort Myers, Florida home. In 2000 Huntley wrote a book about his life and family which he published and shared with all his children.

He and Clarisse maintained contact with countless family and friends with whom they had shared his 29 year career. Most important to Huntley was his family. Through phone calls, letters, cards they would never miss an occasion (birthdays, anniversaries etc). His remarkable memory for names, dates, and incidents (humorous and otherwise) never failed to impress his children, grandchildren and great grand children. His story telling was matchless; he was also especially fond of his furry grand and great grand pets.

The family wishes to express gratitude to all the wonderful staff and health care providers at Monarch and Canterbury Halls as well as Camden Park Terrace and the Moncton Hospital staff.

Visitation will held at Passage Funeral Chapel, 625 Mountain Road, Moncton on Sunday, November 9th, 2015 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. There will be no visitation Sunday evening. A Royal Canadian Legion service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 1:50pm. Funeral service will held at Passage Funeral Chapel on Monday, November 9th, 2015 at 1:00pm with a reception to follow. Burial in Notre-Dame du Mont-Carmel RC Church Cemetery, Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, NB

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital, Alzheimer’s Society or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
