In Loving Memory Of
IRENE FLORENCE GAUVIN
November 10, 2009

Irene Gauvin passed away peacefully at the Villa du Repos on Tuesday, November 10th, 2009. Born in Dieppe, NB on May 26th, 1914, she was the daughter of the late William Robert and the late Regina (née: Melanson) Gauvin of Dieppe, NB.

Irene worked for many years at The Vogue Hat Shop, a well-known establishment in Moncton’s Main Street retail history, prior to her retirement. Although Irene was a quiet, private, and unassuming person, she absolutely loved children, and children were automatically drawn and attracted to Irene. They loved being with her. Irene’s many nieces, nephews, spouses and their children, have numerous and fond recollections of warm summer days spent at the beloved cottage and beach, in Cocagne Cape, with Irene. The cottage was a special place for all and Irene made it particularly so. She had time for everybody. She was a very special person and was loved by all who knew her. Although she will be sadly missed, we will treasure the memories of her.

She is survived by one sister, Dora Gauvin of Manoir Notre-Dame, Moncton, NB; one sister-in-law, Catherine Gauvin of Dieppe, NB; one cousin, Geraldine Savoie of Moncton, NB as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers: Edgar “Eddie” and Oscar.

The family would like to extend their special gratitude to the wonderful staff and volunteers of Villa du Repos, where Irene made her home for the past two years.
Enough cannot be said of the care and attention that they provided her here.

In respecting Irene’s wishes, there will not be any visitation or funeral service.

Interment will take place at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in Dieppe, NB.

Funeral arrangement entrusted to the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB, (857-1901).
