Moncton, NB – It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of our mother, Irène Gallant (Hachey) on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023, at Pavillon Richard of the Faubourg du Mascaret in Moncton.
Born in Atholville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Jacques (Jim) Gallant and the late Catherine Arseneau.
She worked for several years at the Campbellton Psychiatric Hospital as a care attendant and at the Canadian Red Cross as a home helper. She also volunteered her time at the Villa du Repos when she moved to Moncton in 1992.
She is survived by her seven children: Raymonde of Kitchener (Ontario), Réjeanne (Richard Hatt) of Moncton (NB), Muriel of Wellesley (Ontario), Jacques (Céline Blouin) of Dieppe (NB), Jean of Playa del Carmen (Mexico), Lyne of Oliver (BC) and Terry of Montreal (Quebec); his sister-in-law, Françoise Gallant; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister Bertha, and her brothers: Valmond, Normand and Gérard. She was the last member of her immediate family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pavillon Richard of the Faubourg du Mascaret for the exceptional care they provided.
In respect to Irène’s wishes, there will be no visitations. A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
Donations in Irène’s memory can be made to the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Center in Moncton or to a charity of your choice.
