Irenée Gauvin, 85, of Dieppe, passed away on Tuesday, February 7th, 2006 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Albenie and the late Léona (née: Caissie) Gauvin.
Mr. Gauvin had retired from the Town of Dieppe as a firefighter with over 35 years service, he was known for his enthusiasm for selling tickets and looking after MD Fundraising for the Fire Dept, he was a WWII Veteran having served in the army, he was a member of Dieppe Veteran’s Association, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 6, Dieppe Lion’s Club and the Club d’Age d’Or de Dieppe and a parishioner of Ste-Thérèse R.C.C.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel “Bella” (née King); one daughter, Geraldine (Robert) LeBlanc of Moncton; three sons: Antoine (Annette) of Moncton, Ronald of Dieppe and Armand of Hamilton, ON; 5 grandchildren: Anita, André, Daniel, Martin and Guy; 3 great grandchildren: Brandon, Jessica and Emily as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one son Gerald.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, 857-1901, on Thursday, February 9th, 2006 from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm and also on Friday from 9 am until time of departure. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Ste-Thérèse Roman Catholic Church, on Friday, February 10th, 2006 at 10 am.
Dieppe Veterans and the Legion will conduct a prayer service on Thursday at 7 pm.
Interment in Notre-Dame du Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe, NB.
