Bouctouche, NB – It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Irène Hébert, aged 92, on January 18, 2026, at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital, peacefully and surrounded by her family.

Born in Bouctouche on September 24, 1933, Irène was the daughter of the late Jean “Johnny” and the late Marie-Jane (Cormier) Hébert. She was predeceased by her husband Arsène (2014), her daughter Murielle (2020), and her great-granddaughter Mia (2014). She was also predeceased by her sisters Ella, Violette, Edna, Anita, and Nélida, and her brother Léo.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Irène will be sadly missed by her children Jean (Dorice), Donald (Lisa), Jeannine (Jean-Paul), and Jacques (Carmella); her grandchildren Lisa, Anne, Claude, Rachelle, Mireille, Michel, Ghislain, Janelle, Luc, and Marc; her great-grandchildren Alexis, Jessie, Arielle, Chloé, Aria, Zack, Alexane, and Joanie; her daughter-in-law Marie-Rita (Walter); her son-in-law Claude (late Murielle); her brother James (Jeannette); her sister Pauline (Désiré); her brother-in-law Léo (late Georgina); as well as many nieces and nephews.

A tireless worker until her retirement, Irène spent many years working as a cook and factory worker, in addition to always being attentive and present for her family. Throughout her life and after her retirement, she loved spending time with family, going dancing, playing cards with friends, taking walks, or simply shopping with her beloved Arsène.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on February 9, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Saint-Pierre Church in Cocagne, followed by a light reception at Centre 50 in Cocagne.

Interment will take place at the Saint-Pierre Parish Cemetery in Cocagne at a later date.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of the Foyer Pauline in Bouctouche for the attentive care provided to Irène. They also extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Stella-Maris Hospital for their care and compassion during her final stay.

Donations in Irene’s memory may be made to the Foyer Pauline or the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
