Irène Gallant, 90, of Cocagne, has passed away after a brief illness on Friday April 4th, 2008 at the Dr Georges L. Dumont hospital, Moncton. Married to the late Edmond Gallant (2002), she was born in Cocagne on November 22nd, 1917 to the late Gilbert and the late Ida (Cormier) Despres.
Irène is survived by two daughters; Corinne Léger (Late Joffre) of Sudbury, ON, Fernande Maillet (Gerald) of Bouctouche, one son; Francis Léger (Barbara) of Cocagne, two sisters; Ella Léger of Cocagne, Gilberte Hamilton of Grand Falls, two brothers; Ulric (Anna) of California, Normand of Cocagne, fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by one son, Jean-Paul (1985), and three brothers; Alonzo, Eugène, Léonide.
Visitation will be held at the Saint-Pierre Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Cocagne on Sunday April 6th, from 7 to 9 and Monday from 2 to 3:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be at the Saint-Pierre Church on Monday April 7th, 2008 at 4:00 pm, with interment in the parish cemetery in the spring.
