J. Omer LeBlanc, 86, of Dieppe, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 19th, 2010, at the Moncton Hospital after a courageous fight against cancer.
Born in St-Anselme, NB, he was the son of the late Adelard and the late Saraphine (née: LeBlanc) LeBlanc.
Retired in 1989, Omer spent 21 years as a school bus driver for district #15 and a councillor for the village of St-Anselme. During World War II, Omer was an airplane mechanic for Canadair, he also owned his own service station (Texaco) in the 1960’s and he was a postman for many years as well. Omer will be remembered as a hard working, kind-hearted man with a good sense of humour, who lived a full life. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, a good father and a generous friend. Mr. LeBlanc was a parishioner of St-Anselme Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Freda (née: Goguen); two daughters: Denise LeBlanc (Robert Beaulieu) of Fredericton and Monique (Eric) Harrigan of Riverview; one son Daniel “Dano” (Renelle) of Memramcook; two grandchildren: Drew and Ella; five brothers: Victor (late Lena) and Gerard (Gloria) both of Dieppe, Raymond (Anita) of Waltham, MA, Bernard of Framingham, MA, Lorenzo (Rose) of Jackman, ME; seven sisters: Francis (late Gerry) Beauchamps of Montreal, QC, Stella (Ben) James of Labrador, Nfld, Huberte (Reginald) Leger of Raymond, NH, Yolande, Annette and Phyllis (late Ron) Landry all three of Dieppe and Norma (Jerry) LeBlanc of Waltham, MA and also several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Marguerite in 1995 and also by one brother, Camille in 1958.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
Funeral mass will be celebrated from Saint-Anselme Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe, NB on Thursday, September 23rd, 2010 at 11 am.
Interment in Notre-Dame du Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe, NB.
Donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
À l’Hôpital de Moncton après une courageuse lutte contre le cancer, le dimanche 19 septembre, 2010 à l’âge de 86 ans, est décédé paisiblement J. Omer LeBlanc, domicilié à Dieppe, N.-B.
Né à St. Anselme, N.-B., il était fils de feu Adelard et de feu Saraphine (née: LeBlanc) LeBlanc.
Retiré en 1989, Omer a travaillé pendant 21 ans comme chauffeur d’autobus pour le district #15 et était conseiller pour le village de St. Anselme. Pendant la Deuxième Guerre Mondial, il était mécanicien pour les avions de Canadair. Pendant les années 1960, il était propriétaire de la station de service Texaco et il était aussi postier. Omer travaillait dure, avait un grand coeur et un très gros sense d’humour. Il était un bon mari, un bon père et grand-père ainsi qu’un très bon ami. M. LeBlanc était un paroissien de l’église St. Anselme.
Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse de 47 ans, Freda (née: Goguen); deux filles: Denise LeBlanc (Robert Beaulieu) de Fredericton et Monique (Eric) Harrigan de Riverview; un fils, Daniel “Dano” (Renelle) de Memramcook; deux petits-enfants: Drew et Ella; cinq frères: Victor (feu Lena) et Gerard (Gloria) tous deux de Dieppe, Raymond (Anita) de Waltham, MA, Bernard de Framingham, MA, Lorenzo (Rose) de Jackman, ME; sept soeurs: Francis (feu Gerry) Beauchamps de Montreal, QC, Stella (Ben) James de Labrador, T.-N., Huberte (Reginald) Leger de Raymond, NH, Yolande, Annette et Phyllis (feu Ron) Landry tous trois de Dieppe et Norma (Jerry) LeBlanc de Waltham, MA ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces.
Outre ses parents, une soeur, Marguerite en 1995 ainsi qu’un frère, Camille en 1958 l’ont précédé dans la tombe.
Les visites auront lieu à la Maison funéraire Chartersville, 363 rue Amirault, Dieppe, N.-B., (857-1901) le mercredi de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h.
Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Anselme, Dieppe, N.-B., le jeudi 23 septembre, 2010 à 11h.
L’inhumation se fera au cimetière Notre-Dame du Calvaire, Dieppe, N.-B.
Un don aux Amis de l’Hôpital de Moncton ou à la Société Canadienne du Cancer serait apprécié par la famille.
