Moncton, N.B.- It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Janice Diane Donovan, of Moncton, on March 16th, 2023, at the age of 61.
Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Alphonsus (Al) and Argentine (Tina) Donovan.
Janice is survived and will be forever missed, by her biggest joy – her daughter, Alyssia (Chris Elson) Donovan, as well as her mother, Argentine (Tina) Donovan; her sisters Sally (late Brennan) Dawson, Jill (Dan Ross) Donovan; her nieces and nephews: Ryan Dawson, Nick Dawson, Melissa (Justin) Cormier, Samantha (Jesse) Melvin, and Veronica Donovan-Ross. Janice’s legacy continues on in her two grandsons, Conor and Nixon. A special note to her long-time companion, Murray Gunne. She will also be remembered by many close friends and family members. You all have been an amazing source of love and life to her throughout her life, and the family appreciates each and every one of you.
Janice was preceded by her father, Alphonsus (Al) Donovan; her brother, Stephen Donovan; and her brother-in-law, Brennan Dawson.
Janice treasured her grandsons and embraced every moment with them. She loved her role as Nanny and will forever be their Guardian Angel. ‘Her boys’ (Conor and Nixon), and her grand puppies, Camo and Hank, and even Jersey the cat; they made her glow and gave her joy beyond anything. If you wanted a photo of any activity with friends or family, know that Janice had one ready for you. She loved to record those moments to be cherished, as we now do.
If you knew Janice, you knew she loved life, loved people, her friends and family, and was a very genuine soul. She chose work that engaged her with people. That engagement was shared in employment from being a personal support worker to waitressing, and many skills in between. If you were a friend of Janice, you were a friend for life… neither time nor distance apart would change that connection. She enjoyed crafting and painting, and would always create a special piece for gifts. Angels were her favourite to collect, and she is now among them.
Visitation will be held at Passage-Chartersville, 363 Amirault street, Dieppe, on Monday, March 20th, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Please join us in celebrating her life with a memorial service on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Mental Health Association (www.cmha.ca) or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

My deepest condolences, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Janice and I hung around in our younger years and had lots of fun. We walked back-and-forth to school together.
I’ll never forget her laugh because it would go on forever. She put her head back and laughed as hard as she could. Janice enjoyed life and always sent me pictures of her grandchildren and her grand dogs and her kitty.
I’ve met her out walking many times the same beautiful lady. Big hugs.
