Jean-Yves Plourde, 60, of Grand-Barachois and formerly of Bas Cap-Pelé, NB, passed away on Sunday, January 9th, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Neguac, NB, he was the son of the late Raphael and the late Hélène (née: Savoie) Plourde.
Dr. Plourde was devoted to his chosen profession of medicine; of note over the years, he was instrumental in the creation and development of the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital. He had a kind and gentle way with everyone he met. Jean-Yves enjoyed travelling and had a strong attraction to the water.
He is survived by three sisters: Nellie (Normand) Savoie, Viola (Léo Paul) Savoie and Jacqueline (Donnie) Harding, all three of Neguac; three brothers: Antoine (late Pat) of Alexandria, ON, Ernest (Marcella) of Moncton and Normand (Pat) of Pickering, ON; one brother-in-law, Georges Caissie of Neguac as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. He will also be sadly missed by Cora and by his dog, Beavis
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Esther in 2005.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Friday from 7 to 9 pm.
Funeral service will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home Chapel, on Saturday, January 15th, 2011 at 10: 30 am.
Interment in St. Bernard Parish Cemetery, Neguac, NB.
Donations to Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
À sa résidence, le dimanche 9 janvier, 2011 à l’âge de 60 ans, est décédé Jean-Yves Plourde. Il demeurait à Grand-Barachois, mais autrefois à Bas Cap-Pelé, N.-B.
Né à Néguac, N.-B., il était fils de feu Raphael et de feu Hélène (née: Savoie) Plourde.
Dr Plourde a dévoué sa vie à la médecine, en particulier, par son dévouement à la création et le développement de l’unité palliatif à l’Hôpital régional Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont. Tous ceux qui l’ont côtoyé l’ont connu comme une personne cordiale et douce. Il avait une attirance et une passion pour la mer et aimait voyager.
Il laisse dans le deuil trois soeurs: Nellie (Normand) Savoie, Viola (Léo Paul) Savoie et Jacqueline (Donnie) Harding, toutes trois de Néguac; trois frères: Antoine (feu Pat) d’Alexandria, ON, Ernest (Marcella) de Moncton et Normand (Pat) de Pickering, ON; un beau-frère, Georges Caissie de Néguac ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces et de nombreux amis. Il manquera à Cora et à son chien, Beavis.
Outre ses parents, une soeur, Esther en 2005 l’a précédé dans la tombe.
Les visites auront lieu à la Maison funéraire Chartersville, 363 rue Amirault, Dieppe, N.-B., (857-1901) le vendredi de 19h à 21h.
Les funérailles auront lieu en la chapelle de la Maison funéraire Chartersville, le samedi 15 janvier, 2011 à 10h 30.
L’inhumation au cimetière paroissial Saint-Bernard de Néguac, N.-B.
Un don à l‘unité palliatif de l’Hôpital régional Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont serait apprécié par la famille.
