Bouctouche NB – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph “Joe” Hanson, at the age of 80, on Sunday June 7th, 2026, at Stella Maris Hospital in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent NB.
Born in Woodstock, NB, on February 20th, 1946, he was married to Florence Hanson and was the son of the late Harold Hanson and the late Leota (Tompkins) Hanson
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a plumber–pipefitter for Union Local 325 for number years.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Hanson (née LeBlanc); by his daughter, Jennifer Hanson of Bouctouche and his son, Stephen (Nathalie) Hanson of Saint-Antoine; his step granddaughter, Jessica. He also leaves one sister, Mary-Anne Hanson of Woodstock, including several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Beside his parents, Joseph was predeceased by a sister, Sr Shirley Hanson and four brothers: David, Paul, Jimmy and Tommy.
Visitation will be held from Passage-Maillet 29 rue de l’Église, Bouctouche NB on Friday, June 12th, 2026, from 2 to 3:45, followed by a funeral mass at the Saint-Jean Baptiste church in Bouctouche at 4h.
In Joseph’s memory, a donation can be made to the donor’s choice.

Joe had the best smile, and stories to share with us as we visited Jenn, we loved for him to show us his models, and remember he made the best bbq, with his grilled hot dog buns !

Sincere condolences to the family. I have many memories of Joe from when we worked together back in the day.
Farewell my old friend Joe Hanson. So sad we didn’t get to see one another since we both worked at Point Lepreau in the 1980’s. However, I will always remember all the good times in Woodstock, and glad I got to meet Florence and your family at your wedding. Sincere condolences to all your family. Till we met again old friend.
