Cocagne – Laura Maillet, 92, passed away peacefully at the Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, September 22, 2011, after a brief illness.
Born in Amherst, NS on October 20, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Elphège and Emma (LeBlanc) Bourque.
Laura will be sadly missed by her four daughters, Jeannette Gaudet (Ulysse) of Dieppe, Diane Boucher (Gérald) of Bouctouche, Cécile Johnson (Sandy) of Notre-Dame-de-Kent and Marguerite Babineau (Rodolphe) of Shediac River; seven grandchildren, Aubrey, Charles, Harold, Katherine, Jason, Jean-Yves and Priscilla; one great grandchild, Jamie; also several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alban (2010), four sisters, Laudia, Dorice, Stella and Irène; seven brothers, Edmond, Laurie, Alcide, Yvon, Joseph, Roger and Moïse.
Visitations will be held at the Cocagne RC Church Slumber room on Sunday, September 25, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Monday, September 26, from 2 pm until time of the funeral. Funeral mass will be celebrated at the St-Pierre-de-Cocagne RC Church in Cocagne on Monday, September 26 at 4 pm. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
