Laurie Melanson, 81, of Greater Lakeburn, NB, passed away on Sunday, June 20th 2010, at his residence. Born in Scoudouc, NB, he was the son of the late Zoel and the late Eveline (née: Melanson) Melanson.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Melanson had been employed as a Boilermaker for Premier Refractories and AP Green. He was a member of the Bricklayer Union and had previously held the post of Secretary.
He is survived by his wife, Muriel (née: Bastarache); four daughters: Pauline Melanson and Phyllis Brun (J.T. Hamilton), both of Greater Lakeburn, Louise (Paul) Bourgeois and Norma Melanson (Joey), both of Moncton; four step-daughters: Maria Melanson of Moncton, Denise (Mathieu) LeBlanc of Shediac, Bernice (Randy) Flanagan of Targettville and Louise Melanson of Riverview; one son, Normand (Tracey) Melanson of Moncton; three step-sons: Roger “Chico” (Lillian) Cormier, Robert Cormier and Paul Melanson Jr., all three of Moncton; 10 grandchildren as well as 9 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Florence and also by one granddaughter, Phyllis.
By request, no visitation.Funeral mass will be celebrated at Ste.-Thérèse Roman Catholic Church, on Wednesday, June 23rd 2010, at 11 am. Interment in St.-Jacques-Le-Majeur Cemetery, Scoudouc, NB. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, 857-1901

Avant sa retraite, M. Melanson avait travaillé pour Premier Refractories et AP Green comme Chaudronniers. Il était membre du syndicat des maçons et il avait occupé le poste de secrétaire.
Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Muriel (née: Bastarache); quatre filles: Pauline Melanson et Phyllis Brun (J.T. Hamilton), toutes deux de Greater Lakeburn, Louise (Paul) Bourgeois et Norma Melanson (Joey), toutes deux de Moncton; quatre belle-filles: Maria Melanson de Moncton, Denise (Mathieu) LeBlanc de Shediac, Bernice (Randy) Flanagan de Targettville et Louise Melanson de Riverview; un fils, Normand (Tracey) Melanson of Moncton; trois beau-fils: Roger “Chico” (Lillian) Cormier, Robert Cormier et Paul Melanson Jr., tous de Moncton; 10 petits-enfants ainsi que 9 arrière petits-enfants.
Une fille, Florence ainsi qu’une petite-fille, Phyllis l’ont précédé dans la tombe.
À la demande, aucune visite au salon.
Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Ste-Thérèse, Dieppe, N.-B., le mercredi 23 23 juin 2010, à 11h.
