Saint-Antoine, NB – Laurier “Jack” Laforest, 77, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital Centre of Moncton, on Monday, January 30, 2023.
Jack was a longtime employee of NB Power for over a decade. He was the owner of several companies and took pride in sharing his knowledge and expertise in his endeavours. His true passions were his love of the outdoors, sailing, flying, golf, hunting and fishing. Jack was an avid sports fan of Hockey, baseball, and football. His devotion to playing baseball and hockey began as a young boy and was a well-recognized local athlete in his community. Jack was a man with great ambition, a wonderful sense of humour and large personality that made him beloved by his family and friends. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Born in Grand-Falls, NB, he was the son of the late Ernest and the late Leda Laforest (Bellefleur).
Jack will be sadly missed by his children: Marc Laforest (Gina) of Dieppe, France Bourgeois of Aurora, ON and Natalie Bastarache (Ricky) of Saint-Antoine; the mother of his children: Geraldine (Martin); his grandchildren: Kayla Laforest (Amadou) of Shediac, Monique Bourgeois, Mélanie Bourgeois both of Aurora, ON, Chanelle Bastarache (Alex), Nicholas Bastarache (Mélodie) both of Saint-Antoine; his sisters: Doreen Tierney (Late George) of Arizona, USA, Wilda Powers (Buzz) of Virginia, USA and Jeannine Boudreau (late Léo) of Bathurst; also by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters: Venette (Bob), Yolande (Bill), Aurore (Jules) and Gloria “Daisy” (Al); his brothers: Lucien (Carmen), Dollard (Gertrude) and Maurice (Simonne).
As per Laurier’s wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service. A graveside service will be held at Assumption Cemetery in Grand-Falls this summer where he will rest in peace with his parents.
