It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lawrence Poirier, 81, on Sunday, November 17th, 2024, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton.
Born in MacDougall Settlement, he was the son of the late Adélard and the late Madelaine Poirier (Léger).
Lawrence will be sadly missed by his children: Brigitte (Marc) Poirier-Breau of Bouctouche, Justin (Natacha) Poirier of Shediac Cape, Eric (Shanna) Poirier of Cocagne, and Nathalie (Charles) Maillet of Cocagne; his grandchildren: Myriam, Olivier, Jacob, Anika, Félix, and Mélodie; his brothers: Robert (Marie-Jeanne) Poirier of Moncton, Lionel (Fernande) Poirier of Notre-Dame-de-Kent, and Gérard (Rose) Poirier of Shediac River; his sisters: Aline (late Paul) Boudreau and Bernadette (late Gérard) Robichaud both of Moncton; his beloved dog, Molly; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Stella; his sisters: Rita and Thérèse; as well as his brothers: Rodolphe, Armand, Léandre, Ulysse, Guy, and René.
Lawrence worked as a land surveyor for most of his career. He was known for his love for his family, nature, and animals. He was also known for his teasing personality and his soft character.
The family would like to thank the staff of the intensive care unit of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital for the great care they have provided.
Visitations will be held at Passage (3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge) on Friday, November 22nd, 2024, from 6:00pm until 9:00pm, and again on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024, from 10:00am until 10:45am. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:00am. Inhumation will be held at the Saint-Pierre de Cocagne RC Parish Cemetery at 1:30pm.
Donations in memory of Lawrence can be made to the Moncton SPCA (PAWS) or to NCC: Nature Conservancy of Canada.

Our heartfelt sympathies to the family for the loss of your father. Mon oncle Lawrence was a kind soul and I am thankful we have a picture of him with my mom and Gerald from the reunion, their smiles show the love between siblings. Unfortunately, we are unable to be there today but you will be in our thoughts and prayers.
