Ste-Marie-de-Kent – LCol Jean F. Amirault, C. D. (Ret.), 69, suddenly passed away in Holiday, Florida, US, on Monday, March 26, 2012.
Born in New Edinburgh, Digby Co., NS on June 2, 1942, he was the son of the late François and the late Elizabeth (LeBlanc) Amirault.
Jean had his B. A. from the Ste-Anne Church Point University in NS; his B.E.D. from the University of Moncton; and his Master’s in Education from the University of Moncton.
Jean was a retired Lieutenant Colonel, in the course of his life, he worked at the Clément- Cormier School as Vice Principal, former owner of St-Antoine Flower Shop, Commander of the Cadet Camp in Greenwood, NS, Officer of the Air Cadets 763 of Bouctouche having served 46 years, a group leader for the Duke of Edinburgh Award, member of the Richelieu Club in Bouctouche and Richibouctou, Director of the Caisse Populaire in Ste-Marie-de-Kent, and a marriage photographer.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Counsel # 7948 as financial secretary and official state photographer. He was a member of the Ste-Marie-de-Kent church choir, secretary-treasurer of the “Centre Sportif de Ste-Marie Inc.”, president of the “Club des Voyageurs de la Vallée”, and member of the Ste-Marie-de-Kent Golden Age Club.
His favorite leisure activities were photography, playing guitar, camping, golf, playing washers and cards.
Jean will be sadly missed by his wife, Annette (Robichaud); his two daughters, Josette (Robert) Comeau of Moncton and Renette (Scott) Laing of Bedford, NS; his three grandchildren, Ethan, Danika and Samuel; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jeannita (Donald) Daigle, Alcide (Elda) Robichaud, Raymond (Anne Marie) Robichaud, Denise (Lester) Hicks, Laurie (Nicole) Robichaud, Oscar (Dolorese) Robichaud, also several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitations will be at the Ste-Marie-de-Kent RC Church slumber room on Sunday, April 1, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Monday, April 2, from 2 to 4 pm and 5:30 to 6:30 pm, followed by the funeral service at 7 pm.
Donations to the Clément-Cormier High School Bursary Fund in Memory of Jean F. Amirault, Air Cadet Squadron 763 Bouctouche or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
