1939 ~ 2019
Shediac Bridge, NB – Leo George LeFort, son of the late Sophie and Francis LeFort, passed away suddenly on Feb 26, 2019 in New Port Richey, Florida where he spent the winters. Born in 1939 he would have been 80 in June.
He was raised in New Waterford, NS where he met his first wife, Frances. They moved to Bathurst for a number of years but came back to New Waterford where George studied at the Nova Scotia Eastern Institute of Technology (now the Cape Breton University) and received his land surveyor’s certificate. While in Cape Breton he was employed in his trade by the Cape Breton Development Corporation (DEVCO) above ground as well as working privately. George moved to New Brunswick in the 80’s where he met his current wife, Bernice. He took on a multitude of jobs for a number of years including semi-retirement. For about the last 40 years he has been living in Shediac Bridge with Bernice. They were the true definition of “snowbirds”. For the past number of years, George, Bernice and their dog Max would drive to Florida before the winter was upon them and only coming back when the snow was gone.
