Saint-Antoine, NB-It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Léo Girouard of Saint-Antoine (formerly Sainte-Marie-de-Kent), who passed away peacefully at the Stella-Maris Hospital, on Saturday June 21, 2025, at the age of 84.
Born in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, on November 23, 1940, he was the son of the late Alban Girouard and the late Elizabeth (LeBlanc) Girouard.
He will be sadly missed by his sister Huberte (Adélire) Cormier, brother Paul (Jeannette) Girouard, both of Saint-Antoine, brother-in-law Tosh Kaneko of Lunenburg, Massachusetts and his nephews and nieces.
Léo was predeceased by his brother Noel and sisters Bernadette, Rose-Aimée, Marie and Jeannita.
Léo was a carpenter by trade and always enjoyed fishing and hunting.
The family would like to thank the staff at Résidence au Benaise in St-Antoine for all the great care provided for all those years and the staff of Stella-Maris Hospital long care unit for their compassionate end of life care.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 1, from 10 am to 11 am. Funeral service will be held at the Passage-Maillet at 11 am. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent.
Donations in Léo’s memory may be made to Parkinson Canada or the donor’s choice.
