It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Léon G Bourque, son of the late Edgar Bourque and the late Régina Bourque, née LeBlanc.
Léon, a cherished husband, devoted father and beloved grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, at the age of 81. He was surrounded by his loving family, who will forever cherish his warmth, humor and unwavering devotion.
Léon found his joy in nature, where he spent countless summers tending his garden, caring for each plant with patience and attention. The boat brought him peace, and he cherished the moments spent on the water, where laughter often resounded. In winter, he embraced the cold with the same passion, spending days fishing on the frozen bay and exploring the trails by snowmobile.
More than anything, Léon cherished his family. As a husband, he was loving and loyal; as a father, an enlightened guide to his children; and as a grandfather, an infinite source of love and wisdom to his grandsons. His kindness, strength and passion for life will be deeply missed and etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Andréa (née Hébert) of Cocagne; his children: Réjean (Andrée) of Dieppe, Valmond (Ginette) of Grande Digue, and France (Paul) also of Dieppe; as well as his grandsons: Nicholas, Zachary, Alexis, Gabriel and Antoni; his sisters: Lucie Melanson (late Jean-Paul) of Grande-Digue, Loraine Richard (Aldoria) of Cocagne, Annette Bourque (late Alyre) of Shediac, and Denise Cormier (late Raoul) of Cocagne; as well as her brother, Jean-Paul Bourque (Léola) of Grande-Digue. His memory lives on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Normand Bourque (Maria); and his sisters: Gloria Breau (Raymond), Rose Marie Després (Donald), and Jeannine Vautour (late Ulysse).
Visitation will be held at Passage (3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge) on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 7pm to 9pm and again on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 10am until 11am. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
