Léona Cormier
1930 ~ 2023

Dieppe, NB – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Léona Cormier, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23rd 2023 at her home in Dieppe.

Born in Saint-Paul, she was the daughter of the late Alphée and the late Alida Cormier (Gaudet).

Léona will be sadly missed by her sister, Eveline Hébert of Moncton; her two brothers: Phillias Cormier of Massachusetts, and Leonide (Anita) Cormier of Grande-Digue; her niece, Denise Lecouffe of Moncton, who was a special person in Léona’s life; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers: Gérard, and Désiré; as well as her sister, Rita Blanchard.

Léona had a long career as a teacher for 36 years. She loved to travel and to birdwatch. Going to the casino with her friends was something she loved to do, as well as playing crossword lotto tickets.

As per the family’s wishes, there will be a private funeral service.

  1. Saw her last year,she taught me grade 4 in St Anselme in 1959, she still remembered my name. Beautiful woman,may she rest in peace.

  3. I am very sorry to hear my aunt Leona passed away. She always treated me and my sister Janet with her kindness. She will be missed but I know she’s in heaven with her sister Rita and brothers Desire and Gerald.
