In Loving Memory Of
Léona Harrigan
1927-2022

Moncton – It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Mrs. Léona Harrigan, 95, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, on Thursday October 27, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. A special thank you for the exceptional care given by the dedicated hospital staff.

Mom had a profound love when it came to her family. She always gladly made room at the table for any unexpected guests. She was born in Atholville, N.-B and raised in Rogersville, N.-B. Growing up, she was like a second mother to her eight brothers. She loved our father dearly, the late Gerald Harrigan. They shared a special bond and were best friends. Her children, grandchildren and great grandson were the light of her life. She had a long career as an RNA at the Campbellton Hotel Dieu Hospital. After retirement, she moved to Dieppe, N.-B and enjoyed playing cards, darts and volunteering at the Dieppe Golden Age Club for many years. She was a kind soul that was loved by all of those she met.

Born in Atholville, N.-B., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Roach and the late Ida (Ouellette) Roach.

She will be sadly missed by her son: Daniel “Danny”(Claire LeBlanc) of Dieppe; her two daughters: Geraldine Harrigan (Mohammed Benabid) of Moncton and Johanne Harrigan (Allan Simard) of Bowmanville Ont.; her four grandchildren: Amy Parker of Bowmanville Ont, Philippe Harrigan (Danika) of Campbellton, Isabelle Harrigan (Arthson) of Campbellton and Nicholas Simard (Sarah) of Toronto; her great grandson: Jacob Harrigan; her five brothers: Joseph Roach (Dianne) of Ottawa, Leo Roach (Doris) of Moncton, Ernest Gallant (Shirley) of Miramichi, Ronald Gallant (late Bernice) of Dieppe and Paul Gallant of Fredericton; her four sisters-in-law: Irene Roach, Lorrainne Roach and Lylla Roach and Josephine Harrigan (late Basil); She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Gerald Harrigan and by her three brothers: Arnel Roach, Jean Roach and Edward “Eddy” Roach.

Visitation will be held from Passage – Chartersville, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe (506) 857-1901, on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022, from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm only. Funeral mass will be held at the Sainte-Thérèse-de-l’Enfant-Jésus Roman Catholic Church on Thursday November 3rd at 2pm. Reception will follow at the Dieppe Golden Age Club (445 Acadie Avenue, Dieppe). Interment will be held in the Saint-Francois-de-Sales parish cemetery in Rogersville.

  8. Dear Geraldine, Danny, & Johane,
My husband & I were very sorry to hear of your mother’s death. As you said in the obituary, she was always kind to everybody and was liked by everyone. Your father was my godfather which shows that my parents and yours were all good friends.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. Mothers are irreplaceable.
