In Loving Memory Of
Léona Parker
1933-2023

The family of Léona Parker wishes to announce the passing of their mother on August 1st, 2023, in Bouctouche.

Born in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, she was the daughter of the late Adelard and the late Laura Bastarache. She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence Parker.

Léona is survived by her children: Louise Parker, James Parker (Nanette), Johanne Dedam (Jerry), Robert Parker, and Patrick Parker (Stephanie); her five grandchildren: Laura, Christina, Adele (Luc), Alexzander, and Nathan; her siblings: Laurie (Murielle), Azor (Louiselle), Edmond (late Maria), Lina (late Albert), Cécile (Gérard), Julia (Camille).

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clarence (2018); and two sisters: Doris, and Sr. Delma Bastarache.

Léona graduated from the convent in Bouctouche and attended teachers’ college in Fredericton. She taught school in Campbellton for 25 years, and the last 10 years in the French immersion program, which she enjoyed immensely.

As a cancer survivor, she devoted many years as a volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society and was awarded the medal of courage. She was also awarded the volunteer of the year award from the City of Moncton in 2005. Throughout her life she supported her church in Campbellton (Notre-Dame-des- Neiges) and in Moncton (Notre-Dame-de-Grâce) and served as a reader for many years. Léona enjoyed her family and friends and spent many summers at the cottage in Bouctouche Bay.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the family and friends, especially Camille and Julia, for all their help, especially after dad’s passing.

Donations in memory of Léona can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society of NB.

Visitations will be held at Passage Funeral Home (3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge) on Wednesday, August 9th, 2023 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Jean Baptiste RC Church in Bouctouche at 4:00pm.
