Dieppe, NB – It’s is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Léonide Bernard, 79, surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 27th, 2023, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton.
Born in Saint-Paul, he was the son of the late Alfred and the late Domethilde Bernard (Leger).
Léonide will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Pauline; his daughters: Anne Arsenault (Rhéal LeBlanc) and Angèle Arsenault Symes (Robert); his son, Marcel Arsenault (Stephanie Jones) all of Cocagne; his grandchildren: Josée, Monica, Sébastien, Savannah, Vada, Robyn and Thomas; his siblings: Alfreda Henri (late Paul) Connecticut, Patricia Henri (late Gerald) Connecticut, Rosa Maillet (Victor) Coal Branch, Jean-Guy (Nicole) Saint-Paul, Yvette Richard (Jacques) Mass, Jean-Noël (Anne-Marie) Mass, Gilles (Lucille) Dieppe, and Ernest (Yvonne) Saint-Paul; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Léonide worked as a carpenter in the United States for several years. For the last 18 years before his retirement he worked as a carpenter for Hub Meat Packers. He loved nature, hunting, and taking walks in the woods. He had a great passion for horses and adored his dog, Sam. He proudly wore his cowboy hat and boots. Léonide was also a big Montreal Canadiens fan.
The family would like to thank the staff of the palliative unit and the dialysis unit of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Centre for the care they provided.
Visitations will take place on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023 at Saint-Paul-de-Kent RC Church, 6476 Route 515, from 2:00pm until time of service. The funeral service will be held in the church at 4:00pm.
Donations in Léonide’s memory can be made to the Dialysis unit of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC or to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
