Cocagne, N.B.- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lionel Goguen, 92, on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

Born in Cocagne, N.B., he was the son of the late Levi Goguen and the late Priscille (Cormier) Goguen. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorine Goguen of Cocagne; his son, Serge Goguen (Joanne Léger) of Shediac; his grandchildren, Karine and Chloé; and several nieces and nephews.

Lionel was preceded in death by his brothers, Yvon (late Lumina), Leandre (late Lorraine), Henri (late Marie) Aurèle (Florence) and Philippe (late Mary), as well as his sisters: Florence, Carmeline (late Aquila), Louise (late Léo) and Aline (Ulysse).

He was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, and a passionate entrepreneur. From a young age, Lionel took to the road, traveling to Labrador and then the United States as a truck driver, before returning to Cocagne to open a restaurant. He then ran his hardware store for many years, always with a focus on serving his community well. A committed member of the Knights of Columbus, Lionel was known for his generosity, his sense of duty, and his reassuring presence. He always had a kind word, a sincere smile, and a helping hand for those in need. At the heart of his life was his beloved wife, with whom he shared more than 50 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, companionship, and precious memories. She was his support and his greatest joy. He leaves behind a loving family, loyal friends, and a grateful community. His memory will live on in the deeds he did and the hearts he touched.

Visitation will be held at Saint-Pierre Church, Cocagne, on Friday, November 14, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. only, followed by the funeral service at 4:00 p.m.

In memory of Lionel, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
