Surrounded by loved ones, Lionel « Léo » LeBlanc, 87, passed away Monday, April 26th 2021 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton after a lengthy illness.
Born November 16th, 1933 in Belliveau-Village, NB, he was the son of late Ferdinand and late Florina (Gallant) LeBlanc.
He is survived by his children: Colette (Paul Fortier), Marc and Charles, all from the Moncton area; his grandchildren: Guillaume and Alexis Fortier, and Marc-André (Stéphanie Luce), Marie-Josée (Mathieu Hébert), Zoé and Zacharie LeBlanc; two great-grandchildren: Léo and Marguerite Fortier; a special niece, Maria Allain (Léo-Jean); his fiancée Jeannette Belliveau (late Bernard) with whom he spent 11 wonderful years; as well as many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Gaudet) LeBlanc, his brother Robert, and his sisters Rita (late Jim Nave) and Elta (late Louis Landry).
Léo started his career at the CN before transferring to Marine Atlantic. His work led him to travel extensively, in particular to Scandinavia and elsewhere in Europe. The travel bug never left him, so that when he retired, he and Patricia – and later on Jeannette – continued to travel the globe. Léo had many passions, including photography, sailing, architecture, painting, music and horticulture. He passed on to his children his deep appreciation of all things aesthetic and his righteousness.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Faubourg du Mascaret for taking such good care of him during these last months.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 9 to 11 am at Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault St, Dieppe (857-1901). The funeral will be held the same day at Ste-Thérèse Church in Dieppe by invitation only.
Masks are required and social distancing will be mandatory.
Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in Dieppe.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Entouré de ceux qui l’aimaient, Lionel « Léo » LeBlanc, âgé de 87 ans, est décédé le lundi 26 avril 2021 au Centre hospitalier universitaire Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont de Moncton des suites d’une longue maladie.
Né le 16 novembre 1933 à Belliveau-Village, au Nouveau-Brunswick, il était le fils de feu Ferdinand et de feue Florina (Gallant) LeBlanc.
Il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants : Colette (Paul Fortier), Marc et Charles, tous de la région de Moncton; ses petits-enfants : Guillaume et Alexis Fortier, ainsi que Marc-André (Stéphanie Luce), Marie-Josée (Mathieu Hébert), Zoé et Zacharie LeBlanc; deux arrière-petits-enfants : Léo et Marguerite Fortier; une nièce spéciale, Maria Allain (Léo-Jean); son amie de cœur Jeannette Belliveau (feu Bernard) avec qui il a partagé 11 merveilleuses années; ainsi que plusieurs nièces, neveux, belles-sœurs et beaux-frères.
Il a été précédé dans la tombe par son épouse Patricia (Gaudet) LeBlanc, son frère Robert, ainsi que ses sœurs Rita (feu Jim Nave) et Elta (feu Louis Landry).
Léo a commencé sa carrière au Canadien National pour la terminer chez Marine Atlantique. Son travail l’a amené à faire de nombreux voyages, notamment en Scandinavie et ailleurs en Europe, et ce goût du voyage s’est poursuivi à la retraite, alors que lui et Patricia – et plus tard Jeannette – ont voyagé un peu partout dans le monde. En plus du goût de l’aventure, Léo était passionné de photographie, de voile, d’architecture, de peinture, de musique et d’horticulture, entre autres. Il a transmis à ses enfants son grand sens de l’esthétisme et de la droiture.
La famille tient à remercier le personnel du Faubourg du Mascaret qui l’a si bien soigné durant ces derniers mois.
Les visites auront lieu le samedi 8 mai 2021 de 9 à 11 am à la Maison funéraire Chartersville, 363, rue Amirault, Dieppe (857-1901). Les obsèques auront lieu le même jour en l’église Ste-Thérèse de Dieppe par invitation seulement.
Le port du masque et la distanciation sociale seront obligatoires.
L’inhumation se fera au cimetière Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire à Dieppe.
