Louis T. Richard, 87, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, January 5th, 2016. Born in Notre-Dame-de-Kent, he was the son of the late Tilmon Richard and the late Alvina (Cormier) Richard.
Louis will be sadly missed by his wife of nearly 65 years, Rita (Arsenault) Richard; three daughters, Odette (Michel Melanson) of Notre-Dame-de-Kent, Noëlla (Michèle Caron) of Cocagne, and Gisèle (Irènée Bourque) of Dieppe; two sons, Gilles (Simonne) of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, and Jean-Paul (Annette Ouellet) of Moncton as well as five grandchildren, Yves, Nadia, Rémi, Vanessa and Karine.
He is also survived by one sister, Louise Ténière (Claude) and three brothers, Paul (Huberte), Léopold (Blanche), and Tilmon and many nieces and nephews.
Louis was predeceased by his parents, his grandson, Michel LeBlanc, two sisters, Élodie and Irène (Gérald), and two brothers, Yvon (Theresa) and Désiré (Annette).
Louis was a trucker, a school bus driver and a car salesman. He was a trustee for the former francophone District 12 School Board, was a member of the board of directors and served as president of the Caisse populaire of Notre-Dame-de-Kent. He was also a Knight of Columbus and served in various capacities at the Notre-Dame Church for many years.
Visitations will be held at the Notre-Dame du Sacré Coeur Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Notre-Dame on Thursday January 7th, 2016 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Friday from 2 to 3:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at the Notre-Dame Church on Friday January 8th, 2016 at 4:00 pm with interment in the parish cemetery in the spring.
In memory of Louis, donations may be made to the CHUDUMONT Foundation «Arbre de l’espoir».
