In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Lucille
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Lucille Maillet, a woman whose gentle heart, deep compassion, kindness, and unconditional love touched the lives of so many.
Born on August 24, 1964, Lucille was the beloved daughter of the late Gerald Maillet and Eva Maillet (Chevarie), who continues to carry the love and precious memories of her daughter in her heart. Lucille was the devoted wife of the late Marcel LeBlanc and a cherished sister, aunt, stepmother, and dear friend to so many.
To those who loved her, Lucille was affectionately known as “Ma Tante” or simply “Lou-Lou.” These names were spoken with affection because they represented so much of who she was. She was someone people could turn to, someone who would listen, someone who would care, and someone who could always be counted upon.
Lucille never expected anything from anybody. She did not give because she wanted recognition, appreciation, or anything in return. She simply gave because that was who she was.
She gave her heart. She gave her soul. She gave her time. And she gave her love freely and completely.
Lucille was a solid foundation for so many people who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives. She was the person who could quietly hold things together when others needed strength. She offered comfort when there were difficult days, encouragement when someone needed to believe in themselves, and a caring presence when words were not enough.
She was, in every sense of the words, a true mother figure.
Although Lucille never had children of her own, she was absolutely blessed to have three very special children in her life whom she cared for and loved dearly. Her role in their lives became something far greater than that of a nanny. She gave them her patience, her guidance, her protection, her time, and, most importantly, her unconditional love.
The bond they shared went far beyond that of a caregiver and the children in her care. Lucille loved them as though they were her own. She celebrated their joys, worried about them when they struggled, encouraged them as they grew, and held a very special place for each of them in her heart.
They were blessed to have Lucille in their lives, and she was equally blessed to have them in hers.
Her love will remain with them—in the lessons she taught, the memories they created, and in the countless ways she helped shape their lives.
Lucille was also a loving and devoted wife to Marcel. Their life together was filled with companionship, shared memories, and the simple moments that become some of life’s most treasured memories. Following Marcel’s passing, Lucille carried their love with her, holding close the memories of the life they shared and the love that could never be taken away.
Lucille also had a very special little companion who brought love and comfort into her days—her friendly and beloved fur baby, Marlo.
Marlo was much more than a pet. He was a cherished companion, a source of comfort, affection, and companionship, and a very special part of Lucille’s life. The love they shared was unconditional and pure—the kind of bond that needs no words. Marlo was fortunate to have Lucille, and Lucille was equally fortunate to have Marlo beside her.
One of Lucille’s greatest joys in life was the beach and the ocean.
There was something about the water that spoke to her heart.
She loved the sound of the waves gently meeting the shore, the fresh ocean air, the warmth of the sun, and the peaceful feeling that came from simply being near the water.
The beach was her happy place.
It was where Lucille could slow down, breathe deeply, reflect, and simply enjoy life. She loved spending quality time by the ocean—watching the waves come and go, feeling the breeze upon her face, soaking in the warmth of the sun, and appreciating the beauty that surrounded her.
Those moments brought her peace.
Perhaps the ocean understood something about Lucille that words could never fully express. Like the waves, she gave continuously. She gave without asking for anything in return, and she left behind something beautiful wherever she touched another life.
For Lucille, the beach was more than a destination. It was a place of peace, reflection, and happiness. It was a place where she could simply be herself.
And so, when we think of Lucille now, perhaps we can picture her exactly where she was happiest.
Standing near the shoreline. The sun warming her face. The ocean breeze gently surrounding her.
The sound of the waves rolling peacefully toward the shore. And, perhaps, Marlo nearby.
A place where there is no pain, no sorrow, and no loneliness—only peace.
Lucille will be deeply missed by her brothers, Frank Maillet (Lynne) of Dieppe and Paul Maillet of Palm Coast, Florida; her stepson, Josh Hache (Sarah) of Shediac River; her nephew, Nikolas Maillet (Dany) of Greater Lakeburn; her nieces and nephews, Kloe, Evelyne, Albert, and Lucy; and her loving mother, Eva Maillet.
She will also be lovingly remembered by extended family, dear friends, and the many people whose lives she touched through her kindness, compassion, generosity, and unconditional love.
As her brothers, we will miss our sister more than words can ever express.
We will miss her laughter. We will miss her stories. We will miss her caring heart. We will miss her strength. We will miss the little things that made Lucille uniquely herself.
But most of all, we will miss simply having our sister beside us.
Lucille leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in possessions or accomplishments. Her legacy is found in people—in the lives she cared for, the people she encouraged, the children she helped nurture, the family she loved, and the countless hearts she touched.
She taught us that being a mother is not defined only by having children of your own. It is found in the way you love, nurture, protect, guide, comfort, and give of yourself to others.
Lucille did all of those things.
She was a sister. A wife. An aunt. A stepmother. A friend. A caregiver. A mother figure.
And to many, simply “Ma Tante” or “Lou-Lou.”
She was someone who gave everything she had and never asked for anything in return.
That is the kind of person Lucille was. And that is why she will never truly leave us.
Because the people we love may leave our sight, but the love they gave remains.
It remains in our memories. It remains in the lessons they taught us. It remains in the stories we tell. And it remains quietly in our hearts, where time can never take it away.
When we remember Lucille, may we remember her not only with tears, but with gratitude.
Gratitude for every hug. Every conversation. Every act of kindness. Every moment of laughter.
Every day she gave a little more of herself to someone else.
And when the sadness becomes heavy, may we close our eyes and imagine her once again at the beach she loved so dearly.
The sun is shining. The ocean is calm. The breeze is warm. The waves are gently rolling onto the shore. And Lucille is at peace.
Perhaps she is smiling that familiar smile, knowing that the people she loved will be okay.
Rest peacefully, dear Lucille.
May the ocean you loved so much surround you with peace, and may you be reunited with Marcel in a place where love has no ending.
Until we meet again, dear sister. You will always be loved. You will always be remembered.
And you will never, ever be forgotten.
