It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeanette (Arsenault) Davis, 90, at Maison Albert House in Moncton, NB with family by her side on July 29, 2023.
Born in Charlottetown, PE, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rosella (Gallant) Arsenault.
Mom has told many heartwarming stories of her upbringing in Rimouski, QC and Bathurst, NB. Favourite memories include summers at the family cottage at Youghall Beach, with cherished family and later on, as a young woman ‘with the Girls’ at the beach.
It was in Bathurst where she met the love of her life and husband of 61 years, Frederick Davis. Mom and Dads wonderful life together included summers at their cottage at Cape Brule, on Shediac Bay. Following Dads retirement in 1991, winters included time in Florida and some international travel with friends. Jeanette was also involved with the IODE and Meals on Wheels for a number of years.
Jeanette would first and foremost be remembered as a devoted and loving wife and mother. In addition to her family, she was passionate about the world around her. She was intrigued by current affairs, politics and the environment… Just ask any newspaper Editor, Member of Parliament or Prime Minister. All would have received letters from her voicing strong opinions or concerns. (smile😊)
Mom was a lover of reading and the Arts. Her love of classical and opera music would have her singing along with her favourite, Pavarotti, as many could attest to.
Jeanette will be lovingly remembered by her son Peter (Anne) of Moncton and Lisa (Kevin) of Bedford. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by an infant son, Anthony Michael, her husband Fred and sisters Valerie and Marie. She is survived by brothers Frederic (Bathurst) and Michel ‘Mike’ (Montreal) as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
The family is grateful to the entire staff at the Dr Sheldon Rubin Oncology Clinic at the Moncton Hospital for their care. In addition, we would like to thank the kind staff from Faubourg du Mascaret and most recently, Maison Albert House Hospice. We also wish to extend loving appreciation to caregivers Tara, Donna and Heather for your wonderful support.
Above all, we wish to extend a sincere Thank You to Dr John Li who has gone above and beyond in exemplifying wonderful care to Mom. Your gentle professionalism, kindness and compassion were so appreciated, as were your many home visits and prayers with Mom. She always commented on what a special man you are.
Respecting Moms wishes, a funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 10th at 1pm at Saint Bernards Catholic Church. (43 Botsford St, Moncton)
A visitation will be held August 9th from 6-8pm at Passage Funeral Home. (363 Amirault St., Dieppe)
A private interment will take place at Fair Haven Cemetery.
In memory of Jeanette, donations to Friends of the Moncton Hospital (Oncology Dept), Maison Albert House or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
We find peace and comfort in knowing Mom and Dad are reunited and will watch over us, Somewhere Over the Rainbow. We love you always.

Sincerely, Lucille (Sal Veniot ) Deslauriers.
Dear Peter and Lisa,
We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother, our wonderful Aunt Jeanette. If you wanted to find Jeanette, all you had to do was follow the laughter. I remember golden days at Grand-maman Arsenault’s cottage with Jeanette’s stories and jokes. We were all so fortunate to have her in our lives.
Lisa and Peter. So sorry to hear about your mom and dad‘s passing both so close to one another but they are together again as always.
I remember Jeannette and Fred at the former Moncton City Club reviewing events of the day, including politics. Jeanette usually had a common sense approach to things and I enjoyed speaking to her.
Peter and Lisa I just heard and so sorry for your lost. Your mother was a dynamic fun and full of life person she will be remembered and missed.
Peter and Lisa, I’m so sorry to learn of your mother’s passing. Your parents were great friends to mine. I recall many lively evenings at Brule. Your mother was a lovely woman. My sincere condolences.
Dear Peter, Anne & Lisa, A beautiful tribute to a long time friend. I know so well all things mentioned are so true. I will miss her dearly and all the scrabble games we used to enjoy, but mostly the yearly visits with “les girls” at cottages at Youghall. I will miss you Jeannette. Love, Jeannine
Our deepest condolences to you & Peter. Sending our thoughts & prayers for today & as you move forward.
My deepest sympathy in the loss of your sweet Mom. We were in Blakney IODE together for many years. Your Mom was a lady in every sense of the word. I used to see her and your Dad in Shediac (usually McDonald’s) having a coffee. What a lovely couple, so caring of each other. May all your happy memories be always just a thought away. Debby Stuart – Shediac
