Moncton, NB – It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Marie-May Bourque, that occurred on Friday, January 30th, 2026, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center in Moncton.
She was a graduate of the Hôtel-Dieu School of Nursing. She taught theoretical and clinical nursing at the Dr. George-L. Dumont School of Nursing. She transferred to the École d’enseignement infirmier Providence at its opening in 1975 till the school’s closure in 1996.
Born in Dieppe, NB, on May 12th, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Amos Bourque and the late Florida (Despres) Bourque.
She will be sadly missed by her three brothers: Gerard (Carmella) of Moncton, Jean-Guy (Patricia) of Saint-John, and Paul-Aimé (Lise) of Dieppe; as well as her nieces and nephews: Brian (Dora), Sheila (Aaron), Danielle, Joseph (Julie), Jennifer, and Janelle (Nicholas). As well as great grandnieces Sarah, Ruby, Rachel and great grandnephews Bradley, Cédric.
Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her special friend, Zita Goguen; her brother, Emile (Ann Marie); and her nephew, Jeffrey and her niece, Nadine.
Visitation will be held at Passage-Chartersville Funeral Cooperative, 363 Amirault St, Dieppe, NB, 506-857-1901, on Monday, February 9th, 2026, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm, followed by the funeral service at 1:30 pm in the chapel. Interment will be held at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery later in spring.
In memory of Marie-May, and if desired, a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Marie-May était une femme de grande sagesse et générosité. Elle avait toujours un livre à la main. Elle aimait la couture, la généalogie, le bricolage et jouer aux cartes. J’aimais aller la visiter car elle avait toujours quelque chose à raconter et nous montrer. Elle va me manquer énormément! Repose en paix ma chère… Zita t’attend à bras ouverts. Mes sympathies à toute la famille et amis!

So sorry to hear of her passing. I was a student of hers at Ecole Providence, always enjoyed her class.. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.. RIP.
I was a nursing student of Marie Mai.Her dedication to her students was remarkable.She supervised me in giving my 1st injection to a patient at the Dumont hospital , with encouragement and praises afterwards She put herself at the level of her students…being professional , and of a simple comfortable nature.
We all loved her.May she rest in peace 🙏
