Marion Cormier, 88, of Villa Providence, Shediac, formerly of St. Theresa St., Dieppe, passed away on Saturday, June 13th, 2009, at her residence.
Born in Moncton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Emmerson and the late Jenny (née: Poirier-Perry) Crosman.
Mrs. Cormier’s profession was nursing, she as well worked part-time in her husband’s office doing bookkeeping and payroll. She had a passion for travelling. She also served on the Moncton Hospital Board from 1979 to 1983. She was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League and was chosen to attend the welcoming ceremony for Pope John Paul II. She did volunteer work in the community: Scout and Guide Movement and Red Cross Blood Donor Clinics. In 1992, she was awarded the commemorative medal for the 125th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation. She was a member of the Dieppe Golden Age Club and St.-Theresa Parish.
She is survived by two daughters: Dianne Murray of Edmonton, AB and Phyllis (Al) Downing of Grande-Digue; five sons: Norman of Grande-Digue, Donald (Suzanne) of Riverview, Eric of Dieppe, Paul of Medicine Hat, AB and Daniel (Karen) of Lantz, NS; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Abbey in 1985; two sisters: Doris and Patricia and also by four brothers: Clarence, Mickey, Gordon and Jack.
Visitation will be held from Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901), on Monday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm and also on Tuesday from 1: 30pm until time of departure.
Funeral mass will be celebrated from St.-Theresa Roman Catholic Church, on Tuesday, June 16th, 2009, at 2: 30pm.
Interment in the Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, NB.
Donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family

Elle laisse dans le deuil deux filles: Dianne Murray d’Edmonton, AB et Phyllis (Al) Downing de Grande-Digue; cinq fils: Norman de Grande-Digue, Donald
(Suzanne) de Riverview, Eric de Dieppe, Paul de Medicine Hat, AB et Daniel (Karen) de Lantz, N.-E.; 12 petits-enfants; 11 arrière petits-enfants ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces.Son époux, Abbey en 1985; deux soeurs: Doris et Patricia ainsi que quatre frères: Clarence, Mickey, Gordon et Jack l’ont précédé dans la tombe.
Les visites auront lieu à la Maison funéraire Chartersville, 363 rue Amirault, Dieppe, NB.(857-1901), le lundi de 14 à 16h et de 19 à 21h ainsi que le mardi de 13h 30 jusqu’au départ pour les funérailles.
Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Ste-Thérèse, le mardi 16 juin 2009, à 14h 30.
L’inhumation au cimetière Notre-Dame du Calvaire, Dieppe, N.-B. Un don à la Fondation Amis de l’Hôpital de Moncton ou à la Société Alzheimer serait apprécié par la famille.
