Bouctouche, NB – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maxime LeBlanc, at the young age of 17, on September 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Moncton on November 1, 2008, Maxime was the beloved son of Renée Whalen and Paul LeBlanc of Saint-Antoine.

He will be forever loved and deeply missed by his mother, Renée; his twin brother, Mathieu (Alexandra Daigle), his maternal grandmother, Gertrude Duplessis, of Bouctouche; his best friend, Kaleb Robichaud; and Joel and Bianca Robichaud, who loved Mathieu and Maxime as their own. He will also be deeply missed by his extended family and many friends who shared in his life and will forever cherish his memory.

Maxime had a natural love for music and was a talented guitarist. He found great joy in playing and sharing music with others. As a member of Broche à Foin, he made countless memories with his bandmates through rehearsals, performances, laughter, and time spent together. These friendships and experiences were an important and treasured part of his life.

Maxime will always be so much more than the cancer he fought. He was a son, a twin brother, a best friend, a musician, and a young man who brought love, laughter, and happiness to the people around him. His beautiful spirit and the memories he created will remain with those who loved him.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Extra-Mural Program, Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, SickKids Hospital in Toronto, and QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness shown to Maxime and his family throughout his illness.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church in Bouctouche on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.

In memory of Maxime, donations may be made to the Pediatric Department of Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre or to the Hematology-Oncology Unit at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax.

Maxime’s wish was to inspire everyone to live “Au Max” — to embrace life, cherish the moments that matter, love deeply, and make the most of every day. His spirit and his message will live on in all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Me and my hubby would like to say so so sorry for your loss, to all the family and friends and the many who are grieving his loss, I know it is so wrong to loose loved ones and especially so young! We are feeling your loss, we didn’t know him but we saw his band preform on Saturday and we feel we got to know a part of him threw them… they will greatly miss him and so will we all!
