Moncton, NB – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Melli Stephania Macpherson, 94, on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Toronto, ON, she was the daughter of the late Christina Kachmer.
Melli will be sadly missed by her children: Heather Macpherson of Moncton, Robyn Macpherson of Toronto, and Marshall Macpherson of Riverview, as well as her beloved grandchildren Kyle Macpherson of Riverview and Karly Macpherson of Swansea, Wales, and her devoted four-legged companion Myles.
Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her husband: Robert Morris Macpherson.
Melli took great pride in her children and grandchildren and loved tending to her ever-expanding flower garden. After retiring from the Federal Department of Agriculture in 1995 and continuing until the age of 93, Melli was a devoted and enthusiastic volunteer at the Ray of Hope Needy Kitchen and the Moncton Hospital. She was an active member of St. Philip’s Anglican Church, a talented bridge player, a daily Jeopardy watcher, and an amazing baker – especially of Ukrainian bread and German chocolate cake that she made for everyone’s birthday.
As per Melli’s wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service.
In memory of Melli, a donation can be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or the Ray of Hope Needy Kitchen in Moncton.

My deepest sympathies to the family..I worked with Melli at the Ray of Hope Kitchen many years ago..I had became widowed and she helped me with all my sorrows,,She got me involved at The Capital Theatre as a volunteer and i’m still there,,,Many thanks to Melli,,,

Robyn, Heather, and Marshall, I’m incredibly sorrow to read of the passing of your mom! She was always very welcoming to me when I’d be visiting. She showed patience with our shenanigans, usually just shaking her head as she walked away. Sincere condolences; take care💔

I always felt Melli was an inspiration. She stayed active and involved, helping others and shared her love of baking and cooking with fortunate friends of her children (like me). I remember hearing about her making cookies with her grandchildren and longed to do the same.

My sincerest condolences to Heather, Robyn and Marshall. My family lived across the street on Highfield. When I saw Melli she was always happy to see me.. , so kind. I remember tending to her garden as well
On behalf of the Torre family, we send our deepest sympathies to your family. Melli was a very special person and a joy to meet. She was obviously a super mom and person, too.
Though we only met Melli in the last few years of her time at the Ray of Hope kitchen, she made a lasting impact on us. Her kindness and sweet manner kept us all smiling as we worked.

So sorry to read of Melli’s passing, but what an amazing and long life she lived. I worked with Melli during her employment with Agriculture Canada and we took many coffee breaks together with some of the other ladies from the office and discussed many subjects, but food in particular. She made some beautiful and tasty birthday cakes for some of the folks at the office – Harvey Wall-banger was my favorite – which was such a thoughtful thing to do – that was Melli! She shared many recipes and cooking tips with me – an art we both enjoyed immensely. I was so pleased to hear of the full life she continued to lead after retiring as I didn’t have the same opportunity to see her on a regular basis – just ran into her once in a “blue moon”. I’m not surprised to hear of her volunteer work and beautiful garden as Melli always worked hard and diligently because she had that kind of work ethic – she probably didn’t consider it “work” though. I know Melli’s family and doggie will miss her. Take care and cherish those beautiful memories of such a beautiful person. 🙂
Heather, Robyn and Marshall, please accept my condolences on the loss of your mother. I remember visiting your home on Highfield Street many years ago. It is difficult to say goodbye to your mother at any age.

My deepest sympathies to all of you in the loss of your Mom. I worked with Melli with Agriculture Canada. To me she was a very special lady to know and spend coffee breaks and lunch times with. I loved the delicious birthday cakes (never missed a birthday)
