In Loving Memory Of
Michael Edward Gallant
1960 ~ 2026

Moncton, NB – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Michael Edward Gallant, 66, after a hard-fought battle with various health issues, that occurred on Monday, June 15th, 2026, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton.

Born in Hamilton, Ontario, he was the son of the late Allan Gallant and the late Noelline (Cormier) Gallant.

Mike was best known for his love of his family, Rock and Roll, sports; especially hockey and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Mike had also a good time with his close friends. He had a meaningful placement and apprenticeship in mason work, with his close friend and business owner, Phillip Lemme (Stonemasters).

Michael will be remembered fondly and lovingly by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him through the years. A special place in our hearts by his daughter Olivia, and her mother Christina who held a special bond and connection with Mike through the years. Mike was a very loyal, caring friend with a sense of humor that only he could uniquely possess.

He will be sadly missed by his loving friend, Christina Poulin; his daughter, Olivia Gallant; his brother, Guy Gallant (Carol); his sister, Sheila Stansfield (Edward); Christina’s children: Justin Poulin (Kelsey), and Keisha Lavers; as well as several nieces, nephews, and lifelong close friends.

Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Charles “Charlie” Gallant; and by Christina’s son, Taylor Poulin.

There will be a private celebration of life held at a later date.

I was very saddened to hear about Mike’s passing.

I’ve been wanting to share a few stories about Mike since his passing.

Mike was always a good friend to me and like a big brother, when we first met, him being 2 years older. He was legendarily funny and sharp as a whip. By far, one of the funniest and quick witted person, I ever knew. He never failed to make me laugh in good times or bad. I can’t remember ever having mean words with him. I can’t remember, not ever having at least one good laugh every time I seen him,
even if things weren’t going well, for either one of us.

He even graciously tutored me, free of charge, in English literature, when I was in grade 11 and 12, late 70s.

I first met Mike coming off the high school bus stop, which was directly in front of his grandparent’s house, in Saint-Anselme. He had just moved there with his younger brother Charlie, and their Mom, Noelline(super nice lady she was).

There he was, sitting on the front steps, skinny as a rake, clad only in a pair of jeans, taking a big swig, from a huge can of apple juice. Was the first time I had ever seen someone drinking out of a big can of apple juice. He says: “Hey, how’s it going?” I said: “Good thanks, other than this f n English assignment, haha, due tomorrow, and you? And I’m Mike by the way, nice to meet ya. You really like apple juice eh?”

He smiled and says: “Good too, thanks. Yeah, I really like apple juice a lot, it’s pretty obvious, eh, smiling. I’m Mike too, haha” That was the first of many many good laughs, haha. He was consistently hilarious.

Then he told me, in a serious tone, he could help with the English assignment. At first I thought he was joking. But I had only known him for a few minutes haha.

“What’s the assignment about Mike, he asked?”

“I have to write an essay about this book ‘The Road Less Traveled’ by M. Scott Peck.”

“No problem he says!” He had also read the book, and explained to me, in layman terms, no bs, what it was about. Then I thanked him and went home and wrote the essay.

Couple of days later, my grade 11 English teacher, Louis LeBlanc, says to me: “That’s a very good essay, Michel, despite the spelling mistakes(which making better use of the dictionary can prevent in the future), so please Michel, make better use of the dictionary and thesaurus, from now on ok. Otherwise, very good essay.

That’s definitely your writing style, spelling and grammar, so I’m in no way accusing you of plagiarism. However, then he looks me square in the eyes and says: but I suspect someone older and wiser, gave you some insights and ideas, beyond your years. Correct me if I’m wrong.”

“Yeah I had help, not sure about wiser, but a couple of years older, my new friend who quit school and drinks from big cans of apple juice.” He laughed and said: “well your friend is a sharp one.”

He really was. And not boring at all haha.

Musically, Mike introduced me to Van Halen, AC/DC, Meat Loaf, The Monks, and The Cry.

Even though we lost touch a few decades ago, whenever I would see him, he always made me laugh.

Rest in peace buddy. See you again soon enough haha…

    -Your friend, Mike
