Lower Coverdale, NB – It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Folkins on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the age of 60 at his residence.
Born in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Carl Folkins and the late Dorothy “Jean” Rogers.
Michael was a jack of all trades with a wide array of interests and careers. He was a cook at CFB #5, then travelled to Oklahoma for his farrier course, and worked for many years at Hub Meat Packers, and most recently became an electrical technologist at Apex Industries.
Great conversations could always be had when Michael was around. He took opportunities to help when he could and offered advice and suggestions to family and friends, sometimes whether they wanted it or not. Regardless Michael always had the best intentions and cared deeply for those around him.
Michael will be sadly missed by his daughter: Lindsay Folkins (Rachel Hunt) of Bonnyville, AB; his sister: Jackie Hamill of Hamilton, ON; his 2 half-sisters: Carla Robinson Kletke of Las Vegas, USA and Suzanne Robinson of Hamilton, ON; also by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased his common-law partner in November 2022: Dorine Boudreau.
As per Michael’s wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service. A celebration of his life will be celebrated at a later date.
A donation in his memory can be made to an organization of your choice.
The family invites you to sign a book of condolences online at: www.funerairepassagefuneral.ca.
The arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the

I was just recently hospitalized in the cardiac ward of the Moncton Hospital and Mike was one of my roommates. He was such a great guy to talk to and he truly loved his horses and his dog. Rest in peace Mike.
Lindsay, sorry for your loss he was much too young to be gone.

I learned a lot from him about horses and hooves.

Lindsay & Family –
It was truly a shock & utter disbelief when we heard Michael had passed away suddenly. Although we may not have seen your Dad on a regular basis – when our paths crossed, it was like making up for lost time. And where would we often meet – but at the grocery store! A testament that there are great cooks in the Folkins Family. Lindsay, your heart must be broken & we grieve along with you and wish you the courage & strength that you will need in the days & weeks ahead. Thinking of you at this difficult time. With heartfelt Sympathy – Lloyd & Donna Folkins
