In Loving Memory Of
Nancy Delehanty
February 17, 2018

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of our funny, smart, glamorous and loving mother Nancy. After fighting a short battle with cancer, Nancy passed away peacefully in her sleep at the home of her daughter Kelly on Saturday, February 17th. We are thankful that she did not suffer terribly & was with family when she began this last leg of her journey.

Born in Moncton Fancy Nancy, as many called her, to the late Gerald & Marion (nee Graham) Brown. Nancy was predeceased by brothers, Darrell & Dwight and husband Michael Delehanty. She is survived by her children, Stacey Bernard (Robert), Luke Delehanty (Sherrie) and Kelly Delehanty-Ramsay (James), grandchildren Kaylee & Seamus, step grandchildren Paige & Ethan, and many nieces & nephews.

Nancy lived most of her life in Moncton, where she married and raised her family. Nancy was an excellent person, someone that could make a friend anywhere she went. She was funny, much like her own mother, and saw humour in many things. She had a beautiful soul and genuinely cared about other people. Beyond the frequent laughter, our mother was wise and known for being a sage advice giver. She was bright, loved a challenge and to learn new things, such as Soduku, which she adored. She loved movies, watching TV, and talking on the phone, which seemed to never stop ringing. Nancy kept connections with many and had a special place in many people’s hearts: she was the friend everyone would be lucky to have. She and our father Mike fought hard, but loved even harder, and Nancy was never really the same after he passed. But there were still many many good times, often with her beloved sisters Susan & Trudy along for the ride. Trips to Maine were a regular thing, and being savvy as she was with the dollars, going to Marden’s to get a good deal when seeing family Betty & Mary were always something she looked forward to. Nancy got to see the Grand Canyon, which was a bucket list item for her, and Rod Stewart, which even at her age she still danced the night away. Nancy loved to party, and often was the life of the party, but she never so happy as when Seamus & Kaylee were around, her little crown jewels. She loved her kids, always being their champion, even when they drove her crazy, which we did all too frequently. But she loved us, and we loved her, because our mom was the best. Never a hair out if place, make up always perfect, we didn’t call her Fancy Nancy no reason, but amazing Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Sister in Law, Aunt & Friend is who she really was, and everyone that knew her would agree. Rest In Peace Beautiful Lady, you brought so much to so many, and know we are so much better for having your light brighten our worlds, and know that light now burns forever in our hearts.

As per Nancy’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service for family only will be held in the spring.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Nancy would be appreciated.
