Cap-Pelé, NB – Norman Landry, 75, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, after a brief illness.
Born in St-André-LeBlanc, NB on August 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Edmond and Adélia (Deraspe) Landry.
After working as a licensed trailer mechanic for many years, he then opened his own business “Norm’s Skate Sharpening” that he was very proud of. After retirement, Norm loved to spend time with his grandchildren, loved to play cards, cut his own firewood, plant his garden and was a great hockey fan. Norm was a member of the Club d’Âge d’Or of Cap-Pelé, where he liked to play pool.
Norman will be sadly missed by his wife, Rose (Gunn) Landry; his son, Michael (Anne-Marie) of St-Jérôme, QC; his daughter, Denise Landry (Roussel Légèr) of Trois-Ruisseaux, NB; his brother, Laurie (Betty) of London, ON; his sisters, Aldéa LeBlanc of Moncton, NB and Loretta Boudreau of Grand-Barachois, NB; his two granddaughters, Jennifer and Michelle; his three step-grandchildren, Alex, Keven and Kim; his two great granddaughters, Molly and Mia; his aunt, Lorainne Landry of Riverview, NB; also by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Hervé (late Aline Landry) of St-André-LeBlanc, his brother, Léo-Paul and his sister, Bertha (late Donat LeBlanc) of Shediac.
The family will receive condolences at the Slumber Room in the Ste-Thérèse-d’Avila RC Church in Cap-Pelé on Friday, May 17, from 7 to 9 pm. As requested by the family, there will be no visitations on Saturday morning before the funeral. Funeral service will be held at the Ste-Thérèse-d’Avila RC Church in Cap-Pelé on Saturday, May 18, at 10:30 am. A reception will follow at the Club d’Âge d’Or of Cap-Pelé.
In Norm’s memory, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Foundation (Oncology Dept.) would be appreciated by the family.
