MONCTON (formerly from Grande-Digue) – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norman Melanson, 93, on Monday, November 25, 2024 at the Albert House in Moncton.

Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Edgar Melanson and the late Agnes Melanson (LeBlanc).

Prior to his retirement, Norman worked at the C.N.R. as a Senior Mechanical Assistant. He was past president of the Club d’Age d’Or of Grande-Digue where he created activities for the elderly, member of the Chevalier de Colomb (Council 7535), the N.B. Sport Hall of Fame, U.C.T., U.T.A., Bouctouche Golf Club and the Curling Beauséjour Club.

Norman will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Thérèse (Gagnon) Melanson; his daughters: Claire (Garry) Roy of Grande-Digue and Lise Melanson (Rhéal Allain) of Boucherville, QC; his sons:  Michel N. (Alice) Melanson and Denis (Debbie) of Melanson both of Dieppe and Marc (Lois Anne) Melanson of Moncton.  He is also survived by his sister, Jeannette (late Ken) Christie and his brother, Emery (Jacqueline) Melanson; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Thérèse Melanson, his brother, Laurie Melanson and a great granddaughter, Éveline.

Visitations will take place at Passage (3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge) on Friday November 29th, 2024, from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, followed by the funeral service at La Visitation RC Church in Grande-Digue at 3 pm.

Donations in memory of Norman can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of NB or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Chère Thérêse, je vous ai retrouvés, toi et Norm au Faubourg du Mascaret où nous parlions du passé, de nos souvenirs, etc. Je te souhaite de retrouver la paix et le repos durant cette période de deuil. Mon mari, J. Paul, vous aimait beaucoup lorsque nous nous arrêtions pour jaser, etc. Je me rappelle que Norm aimait chanter lorsque nous étions autour du piano au pavillon LeBlanc. De très bons souvenirs!

    Je serai aux funérailles vendredi prochain.
