It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Odila Newcomb, 86, on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton.

Born in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and the late Elizabeth Albert (Bastarache).

Odila will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Frank ; her son, Arthur Powell (Jackie); her special grandson, Steven Powell; her adoptive children: Guy (Pam), Owen and daughter-in-law, Noella Cormier, John (Lisa), and Chris (Karen); her grandchildren: Riley, Brady, Sam, Jennifer, Naomi, Mathieu, Marcel, John, and Frank; several great-grandchildren; her sister and best friend, Cécile Goguen (late Antoine); her brothers: Leo (Jeannette) and Eric (Shirley); her sisters-in-law: Zita, Joanne, and Alma; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Ronald Jr.; her daughter, Anne Thibodeau (Norbert); her brothers: Emile (Florine), Joe (Lea), Zoël, Félix, Louis-Georges, and Henri; as well as her infant sister, Corinne.

Odila loved to travel with her husband, her sister and her sister’s husband. She also enjoyed doing outdoor activities with her family and friends. She loved attending Bluegrass festivals, bowling, playing cards (200), and horse pulling with her husband. She was always there to help her family when in need.

A special thank you to her sister, Cécile, for always standing by her side, and to Owen for always checking up on her to make sure she was ok. Also a special thank you to the staff of the Dr.Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital and Dr. Cyr for the great care they provided.

In respect to the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service.

  49. I can’t believe I am just learning of Odilia’s passing. I have many fond memories of her when I was just a child. Sending prayers to the family for comfort and peace.
