In Loving Memory Of
Omer Leger
1935 - 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear dad, Omer Leger, on a quiet, peaceful, blue sky morning on January 3rd, 2024, at the Foyer St-Antoine, where he wanted to be. He was 88.

Born in Cocagne, NB, he was the son of the late Eric Leger and the late Rosanna Leger (Goguen).

He will be sadly missed by his three children: Paul Leger (Judy) of Red Deer, AB, Pauline Leger (Leo Savoie) of Shediac Bridge, and Ricky Leger (Nicole) of Gardner, Mass., USA; his grandchildren: Jesse, Melissa, Alexandre and Cody; and several nieces and nephews.

He will also be sadly missed by his special friend, Geneva Boucher, of Résidence Au Bénaise in St-Antoine.

He was predeceased by his wife, Bernice (Doiron) Leger on November 17th, 2012; by his brothers: Ulysse, Hervé, Donald and by his sisters: Jeanne Gauvin and Rose-May Colette.

He is survived by his siblings: Claudette (late Eric) Bourque of Moncton, Dorinne (late François) LeBlanc of St-Antoine and Gerard (Odette) Leger of Notre-Dame.

Omer was a carpenter by trade and worked as a contractor in Leominster, Mass., USA, in Calgary, AB and in Moncton, NB. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, his beloved dog, Fluffy, antique cars, sitting outside watching the cars go by, reading the newspaper, and music – especially Willie’s Roadhouse on Sirius radio, which we played for him softly until his final breath. He was a hard working, courageous man with a lot of gratitude in his heart.

He moved to the Foyer St-Antoine on December 1st, 2023, and he was finally home. He was where he wanted to be, and we are forever grateful to the staff at the Foyer St-Antoine for the excellent care he received during his short stay there.

Thank you to everyone in the family who visited him over the past years at the Résidence Au Bénaise and at the Manoir St-Jean-Baptiste and to all who cared for him with such kindness, including the NB Extra-Mural nurses.

We are forever grateful.

Visitation will be held at Passage, 3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge, NB, (506) 532-1050, on Sunday, January 7th, 2024 from 1 pm until 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Foyer St-Antoine, to Parkinson Canada, to a local food bank or a charity of your choice.
