Moncton NB – Ovide Joseph Bastarache age 75 passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Friday October 28th, 2022.

Ovide was a Carpenter for The City of Moncton and Member of local 51. He was a kind soul, generous man always willing to lend a hand. He had a great sense of humour and was an avid Montreal Canadiens Fan. He will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.

Born in Malacoff NB he was the son of the late Dorilla Bastarache (Saulnier) and step-son to Ambrose Bastarache and Father Adelard Thebeau.

Ovide will be sadly missed By his wife of 53 Years Alice Bastarache (Deveau) of Moncton, Son Tim Bastarache (Rachel) of Shediac Cape and step-son Michel Estey of Quebec. He had 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grand children. Sisters Viola Cormier, Murielle Melanson. Sister in Law Angie Bastarache, Pauline Bastarache,  brother in law Raymond Cormier. Nieces , Nephews and Cousins

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Annette Bastarache, sons Ronnie Bastarache, Steven Bastarache and Grandson Danny Chappell. Brothers Andy Bastarache, Ronnie Bastarache. Sisters Doreen Goguen, Aurella Griffin, and Bernice Leblanc.

Visitation will be held at Passage-Chartersville Funeral Cooperative (363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, N.-B. E1A 1G1) 506-857-1901, on Thursday November 3rd, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm, followed by the funeral service in the Passage-Chartersville funeral chapel at 7pm.

Ovide overcame trauma as a child and in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Youth Impact Jeunesse or a similar charity supporting Youth Mental Health.

  2. I’ve known Ovide for the past 60 years and we have always a mutual respect for each other. He was definitely always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need of his expertise. He will be missed by many friends and relatives that knew Ovide. My sincere condolences to all family and friends for the loss of a great soul. May he finally rest in peace..

  24. We’ve known Ovide for many many years. It’s sad to see him leave. We all thought the world of him, always joking around and he will always help anyone as much as he could. He will be sadly missed. But he won’t have to suffer anymore.
