Grande-Digue, NB – Ozelie Caissie, 96, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 27th, 2022.
Born in Cap-de-Cocagne, she was the daughter of the late Aquila and the late Zelica Leger (Cormier).
Ozelie will be greatly missed by her surviving daughters: Phyllis (Alfred) McGraw of MacDougall Settlement, Jeannine (Fernand) Boudreau, Aline Caissie both of Cap-de-Cocagne, Suzanne (Perry) Guimond of Saint-Louis-de-Kent; her sons: Meredith of Cap-de-Cocagne, Maurice (Gisèle) of Saint Antoine, Kenneth, Francis (Adelita), Marcel, Eugène, Dollard all of Cap-de-Cocagne; her son-in-law, Noël McGraw; her daughters-in-law: Laura Brine, Jill Robin; her grandchildren: Denis, Gary, Angela, JoAnn, Marc, Rachel, Sacha, Jesse, Victor, Janice, Damien, Celeste, Kayla; her 18 great grandchildren; her brother, Leandre Leger; her sister-in-law, Annette Leger; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Raoul; her step mother, Ida Babineau; her daughter, Diane McGraw; her infant children: Marie and Joseph; grandson, Chris Caissie; her sisters: Laurina Donelle and Dorice Leger; her brother, Alcide; son-in-law, Daniel Boucher; daughter-in-law, Janet Caissie.
Ozelie was a dedicated mother to all of her children. She began a career in teaching during her younger years to later start her own business called Ocean Breeze Beach Cantine and Take-out and beach camping and tenting for many years, where she introduced her speciality “poutine râpée” to the community of Cap-de-Cocagne.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her friend and doctor Dr. Ravi Kumar Kancharla and Dr. Amélie Cyr, as well as her daily caregivers, Isabelle Bourque who first came and Jolaine Bastarache who was a great support during those difficult times. Also, a special thank you to the nurses of the Shediac Extra Mural.
As per the family’s wishes, visitations and funeral service will be private.
