Paul Bastarache, 63, of Bouctouche, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the UHC Dr Georges-.Dumont, Moncton on Saturday August 20, 2022. He was married to Simonne (Boucher) Bastarache. Born in Bouctouche, he was the son of the late Gerard and the late Juliette (Collette) Bastarache.
Paul worked in construction at Kent Homes, Bouctouche for numerous years. He was an avid hunter. Paul really liked spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of the royal New Brunswick rifle association for many years. He competed at a very high level over many years. Some of Paul’s achievements over his competitive shooting career includes winning the governor general award at the New Brunswick provincial match. He also won the top overall score many times. Paul travelled throughout Atlantic Canada winning many prestige matches. He also represented New Brunswick at the Canadian nationals in a four man team match. He represented Atlantic Canada on a number of team matches in New Hampshire, USA. Paul was more than willing to help fellow shooters in their struggles with tuning rifles and load development. He will be missed very much by the Atlantic shooting community.
He will be sadly missed by his wife; Simonne, his two daughters; Nadine Bastarache (Luc Bourque) of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, Parise Bastarache (Catherine LeBlanc) of Shediac River and his four grandchildren; Olivier, Ève, Joëlle and Valerie. He also leaves to mourn his two sisters; Gisèle Bastarache of Bouctouche, Claudette Doiron (Léon) of Sainte-Anne-de-Kent and several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by one daughter; Mireille (1986) and one sister; Anise.
As per Paul’s request, there will be no public visitations and no public funeral service. A private service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Bouctouche Parish Cemetery.
In Paul’s memory, donations may be made to the CHUDUMONT Foundation.
