Paul Wilfred Malenfant, 86, of Moncton, NB, passed away Monday, 25 March 2019, at Villa du Repos, Moncton.
Born 12 October 1932, in Dieppe, NB, Paul was the son of Ferdinand and Annie (Downing) Malenfant.
In his younger years, he worked as a mechanic at several garages, then later worked as a janitor at Ecole Champlain, from which he retired.
Paul was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, spending many a Friday night dancing and enjoying a beer. He was a lifelong bowler, fisherman, and cribbage player, loved music and singing, and always enjoyed camping with his extended family at Sandy Beach in Cap-Pelé. Paul was devoted to his family, and remained friendly with his ex-wife’s family over the years; as he so perfectly explained it, they were still his children’s family.
Paul is survived by: daughter Bernadette (Robert) Read; son Yvon (Soo-yeoun); brother-in-law Clem Roy (late Jeannette); sisters-in-law Rita (late Joe), Dorice (late Edgar), and Marie Anne (late Charlie); grandson Jesse (Robyn) and his great grandson Colt; and so many beloved nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son Jerome (1964-2016), ex-wife Lorraine Boucher (2009); three sisters: Geneva (2013), Jeannette (2015), and Anna (2010); nine brothers: Joe (2009), Ferd (2005), George (1986), John (1996), Edgar (1988), Bill (2016), Louis (1935), Gerry (1974), and Charlie (2001).
The family would also like to express profound gratitude to his dear friends and former neighbours Andrea and Emile Hebert who visited and looked after Paul, as well as the caring staff at Villa du Repos.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Sainte-Thérèse Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe on Saturday, August 24th, 2019 at 11 am, followed by a reception.
Interment in Notre-Dame du Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe.
Arrangements entrusted to Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe (857-1901).
