It is with great sadness and relief that we announce the passing of Phyllis Cormier of Charles Lutes Rd., in Moncton at the age of 65. She left us peacefully for heaven on August 15th, 2017 in the presence of family members at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born December 14th, 1951 in Saint-Paul-de-Kent, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edmond Belliveau and the late Jeanne Robichaud. She grew up on the family farm surrounded by her loving parents, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. They were all happy doing daily chores, playing music and spending time together.
Phyllis attended École Bon Secour and École Centrale in Saint-Paul and later graduated from Marguerite Michaud High in Bouctouche, where she was involved in many activities including volleyball and student council.
At 18, she moved to Moncton to study RNA at CCNB. The following year she married Normand Cormier of Saint-Antoine and began working at the Dumont Hospital.
In 1974, she obtained her OR Technician Diploma from the Moncton Hospital and continued working at the Dumont in the surgery department until her retirement in the 90’s.
She and Normand enjoyed: dancing, flowers, swimming, playing cards, family dinners, cooking, entertaining, country drives, skiing, canoeing, fishing, the beach and decorating.
Several years ago, she was diagnosed with cancer but still kept a positive outlook on life, even after numerous chemo treatments, hospitalisation and visits to doctors. She enjoyed the birth of 2 lovely grandchildren soon after, which brought her lots of joy, as well as her precious pug “Jag” who stood by her side throughout her illness.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 46 years, Normand; her daughter, Renée Cormier (Mario Biani); her son, Julien (Natasha Scott); her grandchildren: Hailey and Dominic; her sisters: Célestina Belliveau (Eric Gautreau) of Dieppe, Marie-Thérèse (Guy) Bernard of Campbellton, Rita (Francis) LeBlanc of Dieppe and Maria (Lucy) Belliveau of Bathurst; her brothers: Laurie (Fernande) of Saint-Paul, Raoul (Nanette) of Saulnierville, NS and Clarence (Rose-Marie) of Maynard, Mass.
She believed in god, always said her prayers and was a member of Notre-Dame de Grâce Parish.
She will be greatly missed and forever remembered for always being friendly, kind, love of the family and a great smile.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, (857-1901) on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm and also on Saturday from 9 am until time of service.
A Celebration of the Word will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 19th, 2017 at 10 am, followed by a reception.
Interment in Saint-Antoine parish cemetery, Saint-Antoine-de-Kent.
If so desired, donations may be made to the CHU-Dumont Foundation “Oncology” (where they took good care of her for the last 4 weeks) would be appreciated by the family.
The family would like to thank Dr Benjeloune, Dr. Turcotte and all staff through the years as well as the many friends that continuously sent cards, food, gifts and visited.
