Raymond Maillet, 92, of Saint-Thomas-de-Kent, passed away peacefully at his residence on August 20, 2020. He was married to Alcida (Despres) Maillet. Born in Saint-Thomas-de-Kent, he was the son of the late Amédée Maillet and the late Ozélie (Poirier) Maillet.
A lobster fisherman for 51 years, as well as a freight handler for the Canadian Pacific Railway in Saint John, NB for 25 years, Raymond was a very patient man with many qualities. He loved playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and telling stories from the good old days. Like his love for the ocean, he adored his family and friends. Always looking forward to visits from his grand and great-grandchildren, he enjoyed life to the fullest and found many hobbies along the way.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Alcida, his three children: Ginette (Paul) Savoie, Robert (special friend Lynn) and Marc (Charlene); seven grandchildren: Nathalie (Denis), Michel (Jocelyne), Josette (Timmy), Nadine (Marc), Nicolas, Julie, Sophie; his four great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Mason, Megan and Catherine; three brothers: Yvon (Yvonne), Alonzo (Andréa), André (Yvette); and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by an infant son, Joseph (1966); a grandson, Jacques (2004); three brothers: Eric, Jean-Paul, Aubrey; and three sisters: Germaine, Edmée, Lorraine.
Until we meet again, rest peacefully beautiful soul.
Due to the pandemic, private visitations and a private Mass will be celebrated at the Saint-Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church, Bouctouche at a later date. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
