In Loving Memory Of
Raynald Goguen
1956 - 2026

Saint-André-LeBlanc, N.B. – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Raynald Goguen, originally from Cap-Pelé, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the age of 70.

The son of the late Édouard “Ned” Goguen and the late Lucille Goguen (Porelle), Raynald passed away peacefully at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital, surrounded by his family, just two months after being diagnosed with glioblastoma, an incurable form of brain cancer.

He is survived by his sisters and brother: Georgette (Guy Vienneau) of Montreal, Gilles (Johane Arsenault) of Moncton, and Gisèle (Daniel Richard) of Cap-Pelé; his nieces and nephews: Danielle, Alex, Patrick, Mélanie, Natalie, and Marc; his grandnieces and grandnephews; his aunt and godmother, Lorette Goguen, of Moncton; as well as numerous cousins, relatives, and friends who will cherish his memory.

From a young age, Raynald stood out for his curiosity, his intelligence, and his remarkable talent for mechanics and electronics. Fascinated by how devices worked, he could spend hours, screwdriver in hand, taking them apart and putting them back together, always driven by a desire to understand their inner workings.

This passion naturally led him to a distinguished career in the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he served his country with honor for 28 years. After completing his basic military training in Saint-Jean, Quebec, he specialized as an aviation systems technician at Camp Borden, Ontario.

Throughout his career, Raynald has participated in several major missions, notably during the Gulf War (Operation Friction, 1990–1992) and in Afghanistan (Operation Apollo, 2003). In 1998, in Fincastle, Australia, he distinguished himself by receiving the prestigious Maintenance Trophy, awarded as part of an international military competition. He rose to the rank of sergeant and received several military decorations, including the Special Service Medals, the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal (CDI), the South West Asia Service Medal (SWASM), the Joint Headquarters Service Medal (QGJM), as well as the Gulf War and Kuwait Medals.

Beyond his career, Raynald was a man deeply devoted to his family and friends. He enjoyed gatherings where he could tell stories, share memories, and make those around him laugh. His cheerful disposition, sense of humor, and warm presence will leave a great void in the lives of all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

To honor his down-to-earth and authentic personality, the family invites those attending the celebration of his life to dress casually, just as Raynald liked: jeans and a T-shirt are welcome.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., at the Saint-André-LeBlanc Community Center, located at 932 Saint-André-LeBlanc Road, Saint-André-LeBlanc, N.B., E4P 6E9. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m., after which refreshments will be served.

In memory of Raynald, the family would greatly appreciate a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or cure@braincancercanada.ca.
