Dieppe, NB – René Poirier, 85, passed away peacefully at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, after a lengthy illness.
Born in MacDougall Settlement, NB, he was the son of the late Adélard and Madeleine (Bourque) Poirier.
René will be sadly missed by his wife, Noëlla; his three sons, Ronald (Tammy) of Notre-Dame, Charles (Isabelle LeBlanc) of Grand-Barachois and Marcel of Moncton; his daughter, Paulette LeBlanc (Alvin) of Notre-Dame; his five brothers, Laurence (late Stella) of Cocagne, Robert (Marie-Jeanne) of Moncton, Lionel (Fernande) of Notre-Dame, Gérard (Rose) of Shediac Bridge and Guy (late Anna) of Shediac; his three sisters, Bernadette Robichaud (late Gérard) of Irishtown, Aline Boudreau (Paul) of Moncton and Thérèse Boland (late Harry) of Toronto, ON; his five grandchildren, André, Annik, Marc-André, Catherine and Marilyn; as well as by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Armand, Léandre, Ulysse, Rodolphe and one sister, Rita.
Visitation will be held at the Notre-Dame du Sacré-Coeur slumber room on Friday, February 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 9 to 10:30 am. Funeral mass will be held at the Notre-Dame du Sacré-Coeur in Notre-Dame-de-Kent on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Lung Association (NB division), CHU Dumont Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
