Moncton, NB – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Rita Audfroid, 59 years old, that occurred on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, at the Moncton Albert Hospice House.
Born in Thompson, Manitoba, on August 31st, 1966, she was the daughter of the late Alcide Levesque and Dorice (Lurette) Levesque.
Besides her mother, she will be sadly missed by her husband of 37 years of marriage, David; her two daughters: Danielle Audfroid Hughes (Matthew) of Moncton and Erika Audfroid (Connor McCumber) of Sackville; her four grandchildren: Avery Hughes, Quinn Hughes, Audree McCumber and Ellie McCumber; her two brothers: Conrad Levesque (Therese Dumas) of Balmoral and Allain Levesque (Julie Levesque) of Eel River Crossing; her sister, Lisa Levesque (Tommy Lajoie) of St-Basile; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that she all loved profoundly.
To say she was strong would be an understatement. She was resilient, determined, and full of heart – a constant source of love and support to those she cherished. As a devoted wife of 37 years and an extraordinary mother, she was also the most loving Mémère to her four grandchildren. Her eyes lit up in their presence, and they adored her just as deeply in return. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and kindness. She lived with intention, loved with her whole heart, and had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, valued, and heard.
The Funeral service will be held at St Trinite Catholic Church, 2 rue d’Église, Eel River Crossing, on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, at 1 pm.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the ALS Society of NB and NS, the staff of Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation, the extramural team and the staff of the Moncton Albert Hospice House for the compassionate care provided to Rita throughout her illness.
