Robert Bastarache, 68, of Cocagne, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the UHC Dr Georges L Dumont, Moncton on Wednesday June 27, 2018. Born in Saint-Thomas-de-Kent, he was the son of the late Adelard and the late Hélèna (Allain) Bastarache.
Robert served on the Dieppe Municipal Police Force for 18 years and then became an RCMP officer for the following 10 years.
He will be sadly missed by his three sons; Christien (Sylvie) of Dieppe, Mark (Shirley) of Memramcook and Jeremy of Dieppe, three grandchildren; James, Janelle and Nicolas. He also leaves to mourn one brother Gerard of Saint-Thomas-de-Kent, a special friend, Valerie Bérubé and her two children; Chad and Kyla, as well as several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by one sister Simonne and three brothers; Father Yvon, Roger and Normand.
Visitations will be held at Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de l’église, Bouctouche on Tuesday July 3, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and on Wednesday from 9 to 10:15 am. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Saint-Pierre Roman Catholic Church, Cocagne, on Wednesday July 4, at 11:00 am with interment in the parish cemetery.
In Robert’s memory donations may be made to the CHUDUMONT Foundation.

He is missed in community extended friends at breaks along highway and too helping moturists . His smile his encouragement s. At coffee spots in his area too. Very brave man to face in his work daily so much impending danger in not knowing Travellers. Intentions. Several of my friends in policing all share condolences for a brave man especially his Co workers my friends too. Heaven’s gates swing open to great hero. Welcome!!
