RODOLPHE « RUDY » LAVOIE

Rodolphe “Rudy” Lavoie, 89, of Moncton, passed away on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012, at the Dr.-Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center.

Born in Campbellton, NB, he was the son of the late Irenée “Rene” and the late Marie (née: Roy) Lavoie.

Mr. Lavoie began his career in Campbellton with the CNR prior to enlisting in the air force. He was a decorated war vet having flown 34 missions over Europe as a tail gunner with the Allouette Squadron of the RCAF. Returning home he continued his service to his country with Fisheries and Oceans Canada where he retired as district supervisor with 37 years of service. His love of the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, was overshadowed only by his love and commitment to his family. As a man, he was a shining example to all. Rudy was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. A true gentleman who lived life with honour, he served with love and kindness. He was a member of the Dieppe Veterans Association, Club d’Age d’Or and Christ-Roi parish.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice (née: Leger-Holmes); two daughters: Claire (Daniel) McLauchlan of Shediac and Louise (Fred) Veniot of Moncton; three sons: Paul (Lise) of Moncton, Marc (Rachelle) of Dartmouth, NS and Gilles (Brenda) of Moncton; three step-children: Terry (Donna) Holmes of Dieppe, Suzanne (Ted) Phillips of Moncton and Michel (Donna) Holmes of Coquitlam, BC; three brothers: Maurice “Crow” (Lyne) of Rivière-du-Loup, QC, Pierre (Ruth) of Montréal, QC and Jacques (Norma-Jeanne) of Moncton; 8 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his 1st wife, Jeannette (née: Ahier) and by one brother, Roland

Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Friday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 pm ONLY. Saturday visitation private.

Funeral mass will be celebrated from Christ-Roi Roman Catholic Church, Moncton, NB on Saturday, May 5th, 2012 at 12: 30 pm.

Interment at Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe, NB

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dr.-Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

 

Au Centre hospitalier universitaire Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont de Moncton, le mercredi 2 mai, 2012, à l’âge de 89 ans, est décédé Rodolphe « Rudy » Lavoie. Il demeurait à Moncton, N.-B.

Né à Campbellton, N.-B., il était fils de feu Irenée « René » et de feu Marie (née: Roy) Lavoie.

M. Lavoie a debuté sa carrière au CN, ensuite a travaillé au département des Pêches et Océans pour plus de 37 ans, avant de prendre sa retraite. Il était membre des Vétérans de Dieppe, du Club d’Age d’Or et de la paroisse Christ-Roi.

Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Bernice (née: Leger-Holmes); deux filles: Claire (Daniel) McLauchlan de Shediac et Louise (Fred) Veniot de Moncton; trois fils: Paul (Lise) de Moncton, Marc (Rachelle) de Dartmouth, N.-E. et Gilles (Brenda) de Moncton; trois beaux-enfants: Terry (Donna) Holmes de Dieppe, Suzanne (Ted) Phillips de Moncton et Michel (Donna) Holmes de Coquitlam, C.-B.; trois frères: Maurice “Crow” (Lyne) de Rivière-du-Loup, QC, Pierre (Ruth) de Montréal, QC et Jacques (Norma-Jeanne) de Moncton; 8 petits-enfants; 2 beaux-petits-enfants; 10 arrière petits-enfants, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces.

Sa première épouse, Jeannette (née: Ahier) ainsi qu’un frère, Roland l’ont précédé dans la tombe.

Les visites auront lieu à la Maison funéraire Chartersville, 363 rue Amirault, Dieppe, N.-B., (857-1901) le vendredi de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h SEULEMENT. Samedi les visites seront privées.

Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Christ-Roi, à Moncton, N.-B., le samedi 5 mai, 2012, à 12h 30.

L’inhumation se fera au cimetière Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire, à Dieppe, N.-B.

Un don à la Fondation l’hôpital Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont, l’Association canadienne du diabètes ou la Fondation des maladies du coeur serait apprécié par la famille.
